Get out of the way, dogmeat!
Try to loot a corpse, there's the stupid dog, running in front of it, so I accidentally click on him.

Try to pick up an oil can, or open a chest, there's the dog, getting in the way.

Go into a closet or other small area with only one exit, when you go to leave, there's the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dog blocking the door, and of course he's an immovable object.

Get the hell out of the way you stupid dog!

Same with other companions. Here I am, with a minigun, hosing down an enemy with massive amounts of lead and my companions ALWAYS go "NOOO!" and throw themselves between me and pwhatever I'm shooting at.

I had this issue while using my explosive minigun, I died so many times because of this.

I dont know which is preferable tbh, that or Ada constantly hitting me with her mesmetron attack from behind, blinding me temporarily.

There is a perk somewhere to remove friendly fire.

Yeah i have it. I dont take damage from the attack but the secondary effect still happens.

Yep, got a sweet shot lined up, they get in the damn way. Melee or ranged weapon doesn't matter, they like to keep in my fov for some stupid reason. Even throw a grenade, they chase after it. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sigh. But as soon as I pick up that one thing that overweighs me, where the ♥♥♥♥ is my companion to give something to? Nowhere. Have to then crawl along for a while so they then decide to spawn near me.

Oh the dogs take down attack, he's still in the damn way to shoot the thing he's holding. Have to circle around while he also circles. I just consider it being busy and out of the way for 2 seconds while I can then shoot something else.

That's Bethesda for you. Basic game design is a foreign concept to them. You see alot of the same problems in Skyrim.

Hancock that i was running with seemed to be unlikely to get in my field of fire. Or shoot me in the back.

But alot of companions have issues with lack of common sense and self preservation. Usually get sent away fast.

Lone wanderer clearly the way to go no having to run through or jump over companions blocking doors, no waiting on them to get into the elevator or just saying f it and them suddenly teleportig next to you. No lining up a headshot with sniper only to have them wander into your sights as you pull the trigger, No oops i shot a neutral ghoul in a massive firefight with gunners now my best buddy and etc is shooting me in the back trying to kill me. No more companion hated that when i have not done anything but walking along.
