Interesting side-quests & locations SPOILER FREE
Please keep this discussion mostly spoiler free. Names of quests and locations are ok, just don't spoil their content. :)

Here's a list of interesting sidequests:

Silver Shroud
Here Be Monsters
Confidence Man
Big Dig
USS Constitution
Cabot House
Nick Valentine personal quest
Message in a bottle quests
Kid in a Fridge

Places to visit - most of these have quests associated with them and/or have interesting logs/holotapes, or have something unique to offer:

Vault 81
Vault 75
Covenant
Mayoral Shelter
Thicket Excavations (have to revisit a second time...later)
Dunwich Borers
Museum of Witchcraft
Listening Post Bravo
Pickman Gallery
Parking Garage Dungeon
Trinity Tower
Lynn Woods
Spectacle Island
Cambridge Polymer Labs
HalluciGen, Inc.
Abandoned shack (in the glowing sea)
The Rocket Shed (unmarked - Northeast of Relay Tower 0BB-915)
Wreck of the FV Orca (unmarked - North of Museum of Witchcraft)
West Roxbury station

Most of these I visited myself, some I only heard of. Please post any location/quest you think is a little more interesting than the usual stuff. And remember, keep it spoiler free :)

If Far Harbor counts, then the quest you get from Pearl at Far Harbor that takes you to Cliff's Edge Hotel is a fun one. It's what solidified my high opinion on that DLC.

[retracted for its subjective opinion/nature]

Let's keep it to the main game plz. The DLCs have smaller areas, and less quests. Probably all of them are worth checking out. (I don't own them...yet)

Radiant quests are exactly the ones I'm trying to avoid. Those are usually generic fetch/kill quests, only made interesting by the places visited, in which case please tell me about the place, and I will add it to the OP list.

choose one.
x marks the spot.
Yeah....radiant quests are horribly boring, I don't know what you're talking about chris. Especially considering your favorite side mission is a mod that adds more spawns.

There's not too much in the vanilla game that's interesting compared to the DLC. There's the unmarked location south of Hub City Auto Wreckers where you get a legendary .44 revolver. It's not the greatest gun ever, but the location is interesting.

Also, Lynn Woods. I don't want to spoil why it's a place you should visit though

Added Message in a bottle quests and Lynn Wood to the list. Thanks guys, keep em coming!

radiant quests are horribly boring. says who?
says opinion.
i got into a mad argument over opinion last week.

and you say. theres not much in the vanilla game thats interesting..

see the pattern?

my favourite place to visit is actually, or was actually, at the bottom of the ocean, far east of spectacle until you see an upside down sunken ship spanning a deep space which you can develop and turn into a super cool underwater base.

interesting side quests and locations -
with mods included mine are radiant quests and places not marked on the map.
opinion.

A very, VERY uncommon opinion. People constantly complain about the fact that Bethesda keeps adding radiant quests to their games. You're right that it's your opinion, but most people visiting this thread would disagree. Also, I didn't say the vanilla game wasn't interesting, I said it wasn't interesting compared to the DLC.

Also, Spectacle Island. Kind of an obvious one, but it is interesting how you turn it into a settlement

nice.
crowd source for common opinions..

in that case i'll go for the sewer side mission in one of the sewers in the backstreets around diamond city area.
Fens Street Sewer.
that one's popular enough.

and who was talking about spectacle??
the deep sea ocean floor far east of spectacle is not spectacle.

Please don't turn this thread into a discussion about how good/bad radiant/vanila/DLC quests are. I am simply looking for handcrafted quests and places, and want to make a list of places worth visiting for myself and people playing the game.

Added Spectacle Island to the list.

The topic is made to bring light to interesting places and quests for people here on the forum. Common opinion is incredibly relevant.

Also, Spectacle Island was another recommendation for an interesting place. It had nothing to do with you.

Art Appreciation, or just Pickman Gallery as a location itself, would be interesting as well

Common - Good.
Uncommon - Bad.

4 legs - good
2 legs - no wait..

*backs out and lets kiddies play instead*.

Pickman Gallery is already on the list :)

Added Cambridge Polymer Labs, they mentioned this on another forum with the same topic.

Is HalluciGen, Inc. worth adding to the list? Yes or no answer is fine. :)

You misspelt it so I didn't notice. I don't think I can think of anymore. HalluciGen is a yes though. Any dungeon or area with it's own atmosphere will get a yes from me, which is why The Devils Due is my favorite quest if you don't include DLC. Would have recommended it first if you hadn't already put it up
