Emogene Cabot is gone

Edward tells me to find Jack's sister Emogene and bring her home. I ask the bartender TotalBiscuit in Goodneighbor and he points me to some kind of a cult. Once there I use my good charisma with the boss of the cult and he lets me see her. The quest mark hovers in a room where she's supposed to be. But she's not. I try talking to the boss again but he only says random lines now. Then my marker changes and land on the Cabot house. So I go there and go inside. Once inside I follow the marker as far as I can, until I'm blocked my several locked doors that can only be opened with a key. I have fully learned how to pick pocket and I can also sneak very well. I look in everyone's pockets but no one has the key. I get a bit angry, so I unlock the doors with the console and then follow the marker again. This leads me to what I presume is Emogene's room. But there's no one there and her cases and drawers doesn't contain any leads to her whereabouts.

I've done this quest before without cheating, but that was last year I don't remember any of it.
What I do remember however, is that this never happened.

That entire quest line is buggy as all sin. You can "fix it" with some liberal use of the console, but even then you'll just be able to make it "playable"...you'll still watch people talking to themselves because the other is still stuck somewhere else on the wrong stage.

had that also I went back cabot house and entered a lot of setstages. the only thing you must do is some little waiting and see that jack cabot is at the radio if not that ghoul isn't in parsons.

I'd recommend using console command (if possible) to reset the quest and perhaps resurect Emogene. She might be dead. You may also go back to the cult compound and use console comands to bring her to you in that room.

It's not hard to reset a quest stage.

That will not work on the Cabot quest line. It will force completion of the 2nd quest but it will not set the stages for the third quest.

The problem with the quest line is quest #1 sets the stages for quest #2 and quest #2 sets stages for quest #3 and if one bugs out then next is bugged.

I think if you chase down Jack in quest #1 (after you first talk to him) and ask about Arabia that sets the stage right for the the 2nd one and Emogene appears where she needs to be.

Your best option is when doing the quests on a 2nd game make sure you have a good save before startign the first, then do the first and second back to back. The third only gets buggy if you didnt use the right console commands fixing the 2nd quest.

If you use a setstage command, make sure to zone out use the set stage, then zone back in, it helps a lot. Some stages wont set properly if you are in the cell when you change it.

You will loose your serum tho, so might want to add that with commands to get it back.

I've played F4 through at least 8 times, and this is the first time this has happened to me. Emogene has always been in the room, whether I kill all of the cult first, or persuade Thomas in some way. (I had maximum Charisma, so this time I used strong persuasion that the family is worried about her) He leads me to the room and unlocks it. She's not there.

Guess I'll have to use the console to complete this quest.

I can't use the console command to fix this quest because I'm playing on survival... What a dumb bug, and not the only one...

You are on PC right? Just download a mod to use console commands on survival.

Furthermore download "Fallout 4 script extender (F4SE)" and the mod that allows you to get achivement even with mods enabled (requires F4SE as a launcher).

I had to do this because Bethesda.

Hope i could help you out.. Anyway you should REALLY check the water around that location.. maybe she's underwater, but you still would not be able to talk to her in that case

Dont bother. Brahminshit theory. Using a console command that moves you to her location proves that one wrong.

If you want to avoid the bug then you need to talk to Jack and make sure to ask about Arabia during the first quest. When you skip that because you done it before in another game is when you start bugging out the quest because it fails to set the stage.

Of course I said this almost a year ago and have not had it bug out on me yet. Amazing how people dont pay attention.

Your best bet is to go to an earlier save. From how I understand it, if you decide to lie and keep some of the serum, then there's a good chance later the quest will bug and Emogen will not be there. You can use the console to bypass to another stage of the quest but then she won't appear later at the house, so then you'll have to spawn her as well. I did so before and then later the old version of her appeared in the house along with Lorenzo and she was standing next to her own dead body. Pretty immersion breaking. Just another buggy ass quest brought to you by Bethesda.

I tried all these codes and they listed as missing. I also found her at the amphethetre even when I cleared out all the cultists beforehand on previous games just not this latest time. She shows at cabot house but isnt there.

Oh boy.

Your choices are either Console commands (I don't know the ones in particular that will fix this) or to reload a save BEFORE YOU MEET EDWARD DEGAN.

It sounds to me like you got stuck in the worst iteration of the Emogene Takes a Lover Quest. The one that happens if you fail the dialog check when first meeting Edward. The quest seems to proceed fine, but ti script links to a dead end that never moves Emogene out of Cabot House.
