Pip Boy App and PC
I've got a question, and I apologize if it has been answered someplace else. I've spent the last hour so so trying to use Google to figure this out to no avail.

I bought FO4 soon after release and was excited by the prospect of using my phone to manage inventory and otherwise stand in for in game Pip Boy use. I couldn't ever get it to connect and just went about with my game.

I set the game aside for a while and have been getting the urge to play again. I'd like to get the app to work this time around if I can.

From what I've read I need the platform that I am playing FO4 on to have access to wifi. My PC is on a wired connection but I do have a wifi router set up and my phone has wifi access enabled at all times. Is this part of my problem? Does my PC have to be directly accessible on wifi?

Forgive me if I sound like im stating the obvious but some people miss steps: Make sure your phone is on the wifi router, your machine can be wired thats fine. Make sure you go into the menu settings and enable the pip boy app in fallout 4. After you enable that restart your game. When your game is open and running turn on your app and it should show your pc IP, select that and presto.

EDIT: Hopefully your phone is sizeable, I started using a tablet cause I only have an iphone 5s and its way too small to be functional lol

No just make sure you are on the same network, I use my tablet Asus TF300t on wifi and my pc is hardwired.

Ok so another problem that arises is when you enable the pipbpy app in game settings, then restart, the game does not remember that setting and upon re-launch, pipboy app (in game settings) is no longer enabled. Workaround? (And yes, my game is up to date.)

You have to turn on the APP and have it on in the menu. Some times it does not work right.

Sometimes is an understatement. The app just doesn't work for me. It would probably help if the game itself would remember that I set the pipboy app to "on" at the main menu. When I restart the game, this option always reverts to "off". Ah well, typical Bethesda glitchy product. Otherwise a great game.

One reason why it didn't work for me was because I had fallout 4 blocked on my Fire Wall settings, SO i just checked it and now the apps works for me.

Fallout 4 is most definitely allowed through Win Firewall.

Thanks for all the suggestions, but I don't think I'm going to get anywhere with the app. It's really OK, game is still fun as hell and I'll keep playing it regardless.
