Fallout 4 1.7.10 update breakes F4SE again
and once again it happens Fallout 4 Script Extender is broken once again by a little 50 mb update called 1.7.10 for everyone that had this happen again the best thing you can do is go into setting and limit your download time to one hr a day for all updates and try and go into the fallout settings and try to limit the game to only update when its lunch though steam and use the nexus mod manager to start the game though the script extender only but even if u do that steam has a bad habbit of not saving your settings or just going back and overwriteing your settings

This sucks... For the past two days I have been trying to update and fix all the mods I had after a 3 month break from FO4. I had a breakthrough with a couple of mods that were giving me a lot of trouble and went through a bunch of steps to get it all working I was finally ready to play. So during the time when I'm wicked happy and fixing my game this update happens... Tick tock tick tock.

REALLY BETHESDA?!

I get 2 days of playtime and then you do some micro ♥♥♥♥ update that does practically nothing and breaks the game for se again!

WTF?! STOP IT

There's another way to temporarily continue playing until F4SE and other mods depending on the given version (herein: 1.7.9); You can either check if you still have a file called Fallout4.exe.bak in \..\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 4\

If you do, make a copy of your current Fallout4.exe—just to be safe—and rename the Fallout4.exe.bak to Fallout4.exe.

If you don't, make a copy of your current Fallout4.exe—just to be safe—and download a tool to change the property of the Fallout 4 Executable from 1.7.10 to 1.7.9. ResEdit Resource Editor - free resource editor for Win32 - this editor allows your to edit properties of an executable file.

tryed using this program it is only doing half the job i cant get it to edit the file version and product version under the general information section it keeps resetting it back to 1,7,10,0

F4SE is also used in a mod that re-enables achievements in a modded game. To some people, this is a big deal. If you're like me and don't give a damn about achievements, just launch without F4SE until the Silverlock team catches up, usually a day or so.
Tell the idiots at Silverlock to work faster then.
Calm down. Those "idiots" have somehing called "lives" and "jobs."

I use a trick like everytime this happens, copy an old version of fallout4.exe,the steam won't check it,and f4se seems only check the version number within the file.so i can play with f4se functional. the only trouble is all the icons on pipboy's map messed up,like you character's icon is a cave. btw, remember to backup your newer version of fallout4.exe too, use it next time

Honestly, what good does FOSE have for this game? Seems more like a liability than an asset.

Also the mod "Looks Menu" uses it. Lets you save a face preset.

And that is why I never use mods until a game is finished and fully released. Until every DLC has been released the official patches will break some of the mods or the script extender. This is nothing new & anyone that has ever used mods before should already know that this will happen almost every time that an official patch is released.

The most simple way is the best.

I absolutely love Bethesda games but their programmers are pretty clueless. There is no need for a nearly year old game to be getting a patch every week. Love to see bugs fixes, changes, and DLC support updates released, but they shouldnt be happening weekly thats just stupid. Every two weeks to a month would be a much more reasonable release schedule and would allow them more time to test and address more issues without forcing their entire community to download updates and to break the modding community for some of the most innovative mods on a weekly basis.

Would you mind telling that to Rockstar then? It's annoying that F4 updates need a F4SE update, but Rockstar have gone out of their way to make it so you can't use single player mods to load multiplayer cars in single player.

Can anyone remember a Fallout game, or even the elder Scrolls games that ever worked, or sent us on a journey, a long journey of breakages, crashes, disappointment because we couldn't play them that day, what a pile of junk they are, so much jumk that even today, people are still playing Skyrim (Me on my 7th round), New Vegas (6th).

This is the Fallout journey, has been since I remembered the days of Fallout itself. Its a community game, one where people put a lot of their time (for free) to expand it for us, make it replayable over and over, so it will break, go wrong and so on, Bethesda will update, but you will replay (Sorry for the real Fallout fans only)

For me my only complaint is I can't find the Water of Eternal Life, or Mind Control, can't let Bethasda stop making them and if they don't, I need to live forever.

My advise, sit back, wait and then ENJOY, stop whinning, have a break, have a kitkat.

If you followed along with the video from last week then you made a backup copy of Fallout 4.exe (V1.7.9) which you can restore and use to play while waitig for the new F4SE. If not, you can still follow the steps, though you will be using V1.6.9

A part of my mind keeps think that Bethesda don't want people playing the game any other way than what they originally intended.

Im pretty sure F4SE will be used to fix game bugs and improve performance like it did with all its other bethesda games. Lets be honest skyrim itself is pretty much broken without SKSE (and enboost) fallout4 uses the same engine. Its gonna need F4SE's help
Drysyn Aug 10, 2016 @ 6:03am
i only have 250+ mods that rely on F4se lol that is what it is good for!
