I have not spent much time building a vault yet, but from what i have discovered so far.
Go to the end off the hallway you have built, place a doorway then put a door in.
And then you should be able to start building a room.
Hope this helps, as i said i havnt fully grasped it my self.
Sorry about my english, isn't my native language. ;-)
You can look at my video. Maybe you will see the princip how it works. :-)
You need to build halls first. Rooms connect to hall when you connect the two door pieces. As in hallway w/door, 4 way w/doors and the room section with a door.
Get that concept and down and it gets MUCH easier.
The hard part in building a vault is the fact you need to build the halls first. As in when you want to do a second story it aint a matter of just throwing pieces up there liek you are used to doing. You gotta go build the hallsways on the second floor.
Since the halls have to be built first it takes a lot of preplanning to build a big vault.
Thanks for the good advice, helped a lot. It is rather tricky to build a vault... I feel they could have made it a bit more intuitive, but maybe it's just me not getting the hang of it yet, heh.
Think about what I said for a two story building.
The old way thrown down foundation, walls, floor/ceiling, walls, roof, done.
The vault way, hall ways, stairs, hallways, rooms, and rooms. It is going to take longer for a vault.
The old way if you make a mistake it is fairly easy to fix by sliding everything onw way or another, not the case with a vault.
Yeah there is a build order to some things. Like if you want glass between your windows you need to place the hallway window first, then the glass, then the room window piece.
The doorway endcaps to halls are the same way.

Have not taken another screenshot once I finished the fifth floor.
