kneecapper
I have an auto pipe rifle with the kneecapper perk. Dropped a deathclaw in one shot (and then four hundred more shots to finish him off). This has got to be the most op'ed weapon in the game considering how many pipe rounds one finds lying around.

Nope full auto Explosive combat shotgun is still better. However I agree it's absolutely one of the better legendaries out there. Used it a ton myself on ym last character.

haven't found an explosive shotgun yet... Looking forward to it

I don't like it. I use the shotgun when things get in my face, so the spash damage is a big problem and I don't want to carry around two shotguns. Any auto weapon with explosive is good, I am fond of the kiloton rifle for mid range enemies. Wounding is another good one if you don't want spash damage, I am using a two shot shotgun until I can find one with wounding.

For sniping (I'm only in my mid 20's) I have a hunting rifle with 'plasma influsion' - modded out it does the trick but whenever I'm inside it's the kneecapper & shotgun combo

Among the ridiculously OP things it is among the worst offenders.
Its not going to beat out the maximum broken potential of the explosive prefix, and doesn't really help against flying enemies, but among things that are broke to this kind of degree being a bit more broke isn't important.

I have a kneecapper Double Barrel Shotgun and it is rediculously over powered vs deathclaws mainly because of the number of bullets it fires that can cripple it almost instantly, or 2 shots if i'm unlucky. I have never had an explosive shotgun - which i have heard are pretty op - but i have always wanted to find one (probably the only legendary i have wanted to find, but i have NEVER, EVER found one), especially with full explosives.

Yup those .38 round using weapons are awesome. I have Pipe Pistol I use on....well almost everything. I'm sadistic though I only carry it to cripple whatever I aim at. Then I finish off said monster with a couple hundred stabs with my plain jane Combat Knife. Those Kneecapper Pistols are my Plasma Cutter.

First weapon I found with that special was a minigun. First time I used it was on Swan after he spooked me ( did not expect him to jump out of water.. ) first shot made him fall down. It was very funny to me. At that point I already had well over 5k ammo for the bloody thing so.. :P

Also recently found a Assault Rifle with that same special but I want to mod it before I use it.

Regardless I do feel that kneecapper does feel broken lol. However having a Fatman that fires an extra projectile also feels very broken too.

Also, is the explosive shotgun thing similar to the Tommy gun one with explosive bullets? It is fairly powerfull but not soo good on some things.

Yes, exactly the same as spray n' pray. It is applied to every pellet, not just once per shot, so you have 15-30 explosive damage depending on whether you have the perks stacked across several pellets. Spray n' pray is one of the weaker explosive weapons, because its regular damage is low, and it doesn't have an exceptional rate of fire. Its other characteristics aren't great, so the only thing it has going for it is explosives. It is just mentioned as a good weapon, at least for lower levels, because it is able to be aquired easily early in the game. Personally I would rather use Overseer's Guardian, or the previously mentioned Kiloton rifle if you can get it.

I had a junkies plasma sniper rifle it was doing lik 350 damage a shot
Lol I managed to find penetrating combat rifle(+30% armor penetration). I made it full auto with the armor piercing receiver. It literally deletes your enemies. Its also very accurate in bursts.

I don't think they stack*, you're better off using Powerful auto Reciever for the added DPS. I will say, Hardened Piercing reciever is typically better than Hardened piercing except in this scenario so it's a good excuse to go for the additional 25% DPS

*Probably they don't stack as expected, multiplcative, not additive.

"Kneecapper" on a pipe gun. Yeah, I came across one of those once.
What a joke.
Why "Kneecapper" on a pathetic, underpowered weapon?
Yeah, I get you. You crippled it with your first shot .. then poured a ton more of shots into it just to finish it off.
Let me give you an example of a ''perfect" legendary weapon.
Kneecapper Gauss Rifle.
Maxed out modifications on a gauss rifle topped off with the Kneecapper legendary effect, with all the sweet perks in your favor.
Maxed Rifleman perks does double damage with a chance to disarm.

I used that gauss rifle to One-Shot a deathclaw without using VATS..
BOOM, instant crippled ... unable to walk or run, completely disabled.

I casually walked up to it and gave it only one more shot to kill it.

Let me give you another example
:
An Instagating Gauss Rifle.
I instakilled Shipbreaker (4000 ballistic resistance) on a VATS critical headshot, with full health, while in stealth - with max rifleman, but only like, level 1 or 2 stealth. And increased silencer/suppressor damage. But boy oh boy does it hurt. Legendary Super Mutants die with full health at level ~160. Crazy damage on this thing.
