In all settlements, there's a common point they huddle around ... you found it. If you have to tear down stuff then I suggest starting at that point you found, from there, work your way out and sooner or later you will find more spots (or points) that settlers go to before performing their travel package.
If you have the GECK, you could view and perhaps adjust those points to fit your design, basically running a little Vault mod after you built it (may help).
Indeed, but this is actually the first time as far as I can recall that my settlers are having issues with pathfinding.
Normally my settlers have always been able to go where they're supposed to even in multi-layered buildings. Either way I will try to find a solution to improve their pathing, be it either with a mod or re-designed vault layout.
Now, before the DLC, Settlers were able to get around, do things, etc. Now, it's quite impossible for them to do anything. Luckily, they still do their jobs and such anyways so I have no complaints. I can still trade with them, make caps from them, get crops from them, and so on.
Funny thing, Settlers work best at Vault 88 because they're constantly are on platforms I've built but they still have troubles with doorways, and no idea why.
Also, I've noticed that any break in my walls - say while trying to extend a section - sees the settlers streaming out. To where, I've not a clue, the place is EMPTY! Lol.
Scoob.
Great advice, I will certainly try this.
Haha, indeed, I have noticed that too when removing wall segments. Almost like they feel constricted inside the vault walls and just wanna rush out. Although I haven't had any issues with settlers using stairs as far as I've seen.
My settlers usually just tries walking through walls and doesn't seem to grasp that there's a door 3 feet away from them. If there was just a mod or something that could improve their pathing or maybe if it would've been possible to manually map pathing through the vault then that would've certainly helped.
This effectively prevents me from building my ideal vault which bugs the hell out of me.
Indeed, I too felt that there was some change related to the Vault DLC, although I haven't had the opportunity to test it out for myself yet.
Normally settler behaviour/pathing functions at an acceptable level as long as the settlers can carry out their duties, but Vault 88 is a disaster where things can and will go wrong much of the time. Especially if you have a complex vault layout.
I wonder if she'd go all the way to the Pharmacy if I put the overseer's desk there... something to try when I get home later tonight! :)
Try deleting one or all of the experiment objects and see if that helps with pathing.
Clearing the vault is annoying, building the vault is annoying. They should have pre built a huge section of the vault for us and then let us add onto.
One thing that they could have done that would have been cool is have that train station clearable and allow us to make it run and connect to the train station of nuka world w/out a cut scene.
Indeed, couldn't agree more. Hope someone actually comes around to making an unofficial hotfix or something, it's needed badly.
