Vault-88 power bug
Hello everyone,
So my power was all fine than I build a ♥♥♥♥ ton without using any power, eventually I needed some power so I placed a few fusion reactor (The one who produces 100 power)
Yet I connected everything my power has turned red for some reason although I have almost over 800 power

Something requiring power is not connected.

Something in your circuit could be in the off position and anything past that would be unpowered.

If you're like me and you often use TCL to place peices more easily and you used the vault power conduit (the one that snaps to the mid-section of the wall) I found that sometimes power would not correctly travel to a nearby sections conduit.
To fix it I had to select the section without power and pick up peices of the vault (atrium, rooms, domestic, etc.) and the press tab (cancle the pick-up so it returns back to its place) eventually you will pick up a peice of the vault that wasn't correctly attached to other sections most likely because it was placed while in TCL.
Picking them up and returning them seems to fix it allowing that sections power conduit to function properly. Mind you this will only work if the sections of the vault are actually attached through doorways and hallways.

i've had the same thing happen... got enough for 2 super reactors, had 999 power... somewhere between me redoing my atrium and building a commons room, clinic, and security my power went red. I can't figure it out. I haven't even furnished it yet. just the rooms, nothing electical minus and "experiments" needed for the quest. I went back to earlier saved before i did everything to made sure i didn't miss it before, nope. 999 power, completely fine. no red, avaliable and ready to go. Jump to a save right afterwards. red power. Its like somewhere in between it messed up. along the line I had to go defend a settlement... i didn't have a defence quite set up for yet and it was one of the few i deemed "important" since you know... they're everywhere... when i got back is when i noticed red power. I honestly don't remeber where it was this happened... if it was before or after i left and came back. Consisdering the two saves i have happen to be the first load and then after i came back, but I did a crap ton of work, two hours worth, before i left so it could have happened at any one of those times.
I suppose my next step is to redo everything from the First save before the problem and watch the power like i hawk in build mode to see if maybe something messes it up somewhere.

Went back, redid and expanded alot. still nothing... no red power or anything. idk what happened to the first save but it's not an issue this time around I honestly haven't the foggiest idea what happened. It's fine now, wnet back... redid the atrium and rooms exactly like i had it before and even more. no red power or anything... got to be one of those random bugs they hopefully fix soon before it happens again.

I bet that's the fix then, "switch" the Vault tech terminal. I'll do that first thing when i reboot the game. The new one hasn't done it yet. Maybe that will stop it from happening.

The onyl reason I noticed was because when I placed it, it knocked out ALL the power in Starlight Drive in.

The power was there, but everything was liek off.

Someone said they had good luck with putting a power switch on the terminal.

Has anyone fixed this yet? Can someone please explain what terminal you're talking about? I can't open the link to the other discussion it must have been removed. Thanks!

How rude!

I edited out the link.

The vault population management terminal. It lets you assign workers and tracks companions.

I didn't have one of those terminals built yet, but I built one, attached it to the generator with a switch and it didn't seem to change much. I think my game is just glitched because even though the power is in the red it seems I can still run power to things.

Here's a reddit thread explaining the problem in detail for anyone still experiencing this https://www.reddit.com/r/fo4/comments/4wx2r0/vault_88_power_supply_in_the_red_glitch/

At this stage I think I'm just gonna keep building and hope for the best. Thanks!

I have this too, i'm starting to think Vault 88 may suffer from the same issues as spectacle island when it comes to loading in cells over a large area

I dont think it would because it is all one inside cell.

The red power also means something that requires power is not connected to power. It can be a water purifier, water pump, etc.

I hooked the water pump up to some smaller generators and its working fine. I think the weirdest thing about this whole situation is that at one point, as an experiment, I literally deleted the whole vault piece by piece until there was absolutely nothing left in the whole cave, and the power was still red.
Its not red when you first discover vault 88 so why should it be red after that? It must be bugged. I dunno :S
