Vault Tec Workshop Pip Boy Purpose?

Whats the point of getting 10 pip boys to give away? I finished all the quests and you only give one pip boy away to Clem, now I got 9 others to use. Anyone know what to do with them?

I haven't progress in the vault tec 88 quests enough to learn that yet

Someone mentioned here in a topic giving one to a companion and that once you give it to them they can't take it off ever

I can give them it but they don't equip it for whatever reason

Mine did in my non survival game, but my survival version the pip boy wont equip to settlers

Yeah i'm on survival, same issue

It works in my game. It can be equiped on almost all my followers and settlers. On survival mode level 131 now.

Equip the settlers with a vault suit first, then the pip boy should work for them. Heck, it's been a while but I'd almost swear I remember the settlers actually auto-equiping the pip boys at that point.
