Building a Vault is hard as ♥♥♥♥
So, I just "built" the first Floor of the Atrium, which means I got the wall going and the whole thing is floored (the entire first cavity you come into meeting the Overseer) And the first thing I wanted to do, was building an area for the settlers that come with the first few quests, and I realized that I somehow am Unable to connect any of the "Room" Parts to the Atrium Floor. I cant basically connect ANYTHING to the atrium floor. Stairs wont work untill I remove one piece of floor, when i do that, it can connect to the 4 floor pieces around that one. Another problem is, that I cant seem to build certain hallways with walls (Wide Hallways cant connect to Atrium Floortiles) Meaning, that I cant seem to get combinations of walls to work on small space (like, when trying to build an "Atrium-Room" Walls look ♥♥♥♥♥♥ from one side of the wall, and to fix that you add another all back-to-back to that one You then have a thicker wall that looks good from both sides but you cant angle another kind of wall onto the same floorpiece.

I also have a problem with the "Vault Tec Power Conduit" So I realized, that by Putting it somewhere I can create a wall or better "conduit" that basically uses all generators in the Vault (or so I think) Do I really have to put one of these in every room unless I want wires everywhere?

Then, there is the Question, of how to translate into different Areas. There are ways where I think I need to use the angled down Roof pieces from the atrium to somehow create a hallway down, but then there is also that one area that has a steep cliff right at the beginning with a staircase going down (right side of the trailer the Overseer-Ghoul worked from at the start) and I have no Idea on how to get down there.

And generally to put this all into a tl;dr
I dont know how to continue building after the first floor of the Atrium without any rooms.

there are doorway frame pieces in the staircase menu that be vault tec and the blue ones that are L shaped stairs in two different directions, the doorway frames allow you to connect a room to them, wish I had a video to show, I just spent several hours contructing the grand from atruim area and overseer's off and living quarters and bathroom and feel like I did a 2500 piece jig saw puzzle , my head hurts from thinking now!..

It's actually pretty easy, lost my save for my vault but it gets a lot easier once you use place anywhere.

It seems you need to use 'doorway' pieces within each Vault subsection to connect different sections together. I built a reasonably adequate place just out of Atrium parts before I realised that... Had to tear the majority of it down to make room for 'proper' parts, some of which look a fair bit worse.

So I think i found the Doorframes. But I can only connect them to Atrium Floortiles witht he back showing to the Atrium Area.
To paint a picture here:
Basicly took a 3x3 area and took out the atrium Floortiles. I want to turen it into a "Quarter" so I need the "Domestic" Doorframe but when i try to position it in a way, so that the front of the doorway is facing the direction you enter from, it doesnt connect, it only connects so the front shows into the wrong direction. I tried using pre-fab Doors with floor attached to them, but they dont connect any way.
