Modding Nuka World
(This was piggy-backed on somebody else's post, figured I'd make my own thread instead.)
I haven't done Nuka World yet in my current run (my previous playthrough was in 2015 before there was DLC) and personally I think Bethesda dropped the ball by focusing purely on an "evil" playthrough. There should be more grey/good options other than purging the map in one massive shootout, imo that's just lazy writing. As a result I'm planning on modding it, but I haven't decided exactly how. I'm looking at either Nuka World Reborn or Nuka World Plus and am trying to decide which one best fits the scope & intent of the overall game. Anyone have any advice, or care to suggest different mods?

I'm hoping for something which fits nicely within the context of the game in general, which is why I like the thought of different factions moving in to NW, building settlements, and defending against the remnants of raider groups (or other enemy groups.) I don't want anything that seems "cheaty" or would allow unbalanced progress or gain. Anyone have any input on a mod or 2 that lets us play the "good guy" without simply slaughtering the local population?

You don't have to become a raider. You can just kill them all and end just fine without them. Some people claim that the weapons or whatever is available for completing the raider side of it are 'amazing' or whatever but frankly if you're not going to want to be a raider, you can just keep doing what you're doing normally: kill them all and take over.

There are however a couple settlement mods that I use frequently that are quite nice. I don't use sweeping faction stuff at all, but

this one is superb for the buildings, vendors, and set dressing - that includes a working windmill that actually gives a reasonable amount of power

And over in the Commonwealth this one redoes the transit center - but it's not compatible with the prior set since there is another one there already
