7.62mm
...full metal jacket.

So I just noticed that the new 7.62mm ammo isn't craftable in the ammo forge. I haven't found any in the Commonwealth yet, but did find a handmade rifle (which looks awesome btw) on a legendary Gunner.

Is the only way to get this ammo going to be farming it inside Nuka-World? Because that really ruined the Lever-action in FH for me.

I am a bit confused. As far as I know 7.62 mm is the same ammunition as .308 (Winchester). So shouldn't I can fire .308 out of my handmade rifle? :-)

FO4's weapon system is too simplified for that, you can't even load different kinds of ammunition (AP, HE, HP, etc.) without a mod. Don't overthink it.

Depends on which 7.62 it is. There's more than just that. It should be 7.62 X casesize.
It could be 308 win or .30-06 or that Russian Ak round, and there are a few more I think.

All the same diameter slug, different case length however.

Huh, thought the smilie was indication enough. I didn't meant it that serious. ;-)

Contraptions was made before Nuka World, it uses a fixed item list, and the new ammo isn't in that list.

I get that it came out first, but adding a simple AND statement to add some items from other DLCs wouldn't be hard.

IF Nuka-World AND Contraptions = TRUE, THEN add recipe.

Thanks for the tip on the market. I'm playing Survival though, so hauling around thousands of rounds isn't terribly feasible :/

That's not how it works though. To have it produce nuke world stuff it would need the nuka world dlc installed. The specific contraption if made to make 7.62 would crash the game if nuka world wasn't present, since it's trying to reference a non existent esm.

It totally ruins the game and makes you get bored faster when you just give yourself all the things you need. I think once in a pintch I spawned some copper for lights. But when I was done I went back out with a modded power armor to garbage hunt.

Simple then. Console in the ammo. Build a container. Place the materials you believe would have been needed to make the ammo, in a pinch I would say 5.56 components x 2. Select container in console, type markfordelete.

The 7.62 round in Fallout 4 is based on the 7.62x39mm round used in AK-47 and AKM rifles, not the 7.62x51mm round that was based off the .308 Winchester.

The bullet is the same diameter but not the same length and the case is different too.

Back on topic though it really is lame that the manufacturing stuff is so incomplete without mods. Still a good start, though.

The utter inconvenience to fetch 7,62 ammo in Survival made me drop my best gun, a legendary handmade rifle with exploding bullets (I ran out of bullets in a fight with a Mirelurk Queen and had to use grenades and my sword ...), and use again Overseer's Guardian with an automatic receiver. Now I'm so bored to run Far Harbor up and down that I installed Immersive Fast Travel mod. It costs precious oil/fuel to travel between settlements but if you could travel to Nuka World from Far Harbor directly (did not try it yet) that would solve the 7,62 problem for me.

You're welcome.

But that mod has nothing to do with 7.62mm ammunition? How is it relevant?

Must have grabbed the wrong one.

http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/10482/? has the 7.62mm listed.

Oh, okay, honest mistake haha. That mod looks pretty cool. I'm personally a bit more inclined toward Manufacturing Extended and Manufacturing Extended Expanded, cause they let me just set a machine to pump out 7.62mm and leave it running so I can go about other business and come back when I want to pick up my ammo.

It would probably be much more useful to be able to craft ammo whenever you're at a chemistry station, though, so the mod you linked is probably better for most people.
