How to get into FEV lab?
Heya, so I'm in the Institute and trying to get into the FEV lab and since my hacking skill is non-existent to deal with the master level terminal, I took the alternative path and am met with a sealed door as seen in the following screenshot:

I've tried to find how to get past this, but everything I've found has the door not there and people able to just pass through. How do I get past this door or am I just screwed because I didn't the ability to predict the future to know that computer hacking is a required skill?

I can't remember but hacking and lock picking has always been a needed skill since fo1

But this is the first time in FO4 that I've needed to hack something quest related that wasn't novice level. This is the first quest so far in my hours of playing that has a high level hacking requirement when before I always got a key or password to get past the need of hacking.

That video doesn't say how to deal with sealed doors. In his walkthrough the alternate path has the doors open and as you see in the screenshot I provided, the doors are sealed.

go in front of terminal that needs to be hacked, open console, click on terminal, type 'unlock' close console click on terminal

I would prefer to avoid straight up cheating since everything I've looked up has suggested no such need for it, but seem to not mention these sealed doors. I'd rather look for help in trying to figure out how to open these doors that apparently are supposed to be open from the start than to just cheat my way to a quest completion (unless this whole thing is bugged and cheating is literally the only option left).

Leave and do something else till you lvl your hacking up then come back

I usually keep a couple of Perk points in reserve for when I run into something like this.

The back entrance(through the side corridors) used to be open, and now is not(the containment doors can be opened, but are not accessible from your side. Most likely a bug. I used tcl to go through the door and pushed the buttons on the other side.

It is almost certainly a Bethesda #$%^ up because if you take too much time you fail another quest.

I have run into this problem as well. The door was always open before (on 20+ playthrus) I don't like having to use a console command, but I don't see any way around it.

Virgil gives you the key once you accept his quest

According to fallout 4 wiki regarding the quest "virgil's cure" the mod unofficial fallout 4 patch will make the two doors at the alternate entrance, past the novice locked door closed for some reason. Just gonna have to noclip through tbh
