Silver Shroud quest help

Hi.
So I've got to the end part of the Silver Shroud quest, when Kent has been kidnapped. On the very last part of it, killing the baddies is no problem, but I've had a lot of trouble doing that before they kill Kent. I know saving Kent's life is optional, but I really want to do it, does anybody have any advice? Weapons, strategies, suitable companions, blah blah blah.
Please tell me if you've got advice, or have completed the quest and managed to save him yourself. Help would be much appreciated

You have a few options, I have done it a few ways. Once you take the elevator down, as it gets to the bottom take Jet and snipe Sinjin from the elevator before the conversation starts. It will stop kent from being killed but everyone will now attack you. The other I way I have done it is through conversation, take the option to intimiadte Sinjin henchman but once the conversation is over you have to Vats Sinjin and headshot him as he will Shoot kent first, has to be done quick or Sinjin will shoot kent beofore you can get a shot off. Also be sure to have a powerful one hit weapon, DO NOT USE ANY EXPLOSIVE WEAPON as shooting Sinjin will kill Kent too. I believe there is another conversation option that will have everyone attack you but Sinjin wont kill kent. Both of the conversation options are hard so be sure to have your charisma up. Thanks for the advice, I'll give this stuff a go. What weapon do you recommend to one-shot Sinjin?

I did the convo option and i'm pretty sure i used the Overseer's Guardian to take the shot. Of course i was specced for rifles. I also made sure I had a crit shot ready for the VATS shot.

That's the easy way. Otherwise you've got one shot to kill Sinjin and hope he doesn't get Kent on the way out.

If you can survive hits from Sinjin and all of the henchmen.

I tried to kill him quick so many times.. even when I shot him with that crap that makes the enemy non-hostile for 30 seconds, he kept shooting Kent before going into confused mode.
