Yup, Criag you definately read that post.
At any rate you can circumvent the construction limit with the usual methods, dropping stuff on the area then using build mode to store it or scrap it, making the game think you removed stuff from the settlement. General consensus is that weapons with a lot of mods(high scrapping value) are the best for this. And yes, the build limits suck they are based on what the Xbox or PS4 could handle. Which is fine if everyone had a pc in the minimum to recommended specs range, and couldn't handle more, but it would be real nice if you could disable to build limit in the options or something(of course getting a warning about lag and crash potential and proceeding at own risk while asking if you really want to turn the limit off)
(Still waiting on my download to finish, so please don't flame me if this is not the case with the Vault, btw...)
Otherwise try this mod (of sorts) - http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/818/?
I use it myself and it works wonders...
Mods might not be the best idea to run for the first few days. Simpyl because you know you have incoming headache because they will emergency patch something and cause your mods to mess up, lol.
Ya there is plenty of junk to store/scrap it is on par with Mechanist Lair for that.
As for physical build space think of Mechanist Lair if it was 2-3 times that size, then multiply that by four settlements.
BTW if you play on survival make sure you bring aids for rads or the fiber optics to build a decon arch. You might want to bring your power armor as well, some of the stuff lurking in the vault caves is pretty nasty, especially if you are already like 100+ lol.
I think you can even place the Bunker Hill trade tent in it as well. However I do not recommend it. Last I knew there was a bug that the traders path into Mechanist Lair but fail to path back out. So then they get stuck inside. I ghly doubt it was fixed and it would be safe to assume the same thing could occur with vault 88.
The mod I link earlier is a bat file which does this by approximately trippling the settlement size available, without having to remember console commands...
I have this mod for over 6 months.
No problem since this time.
