vault 88 room ideas!
since the building area in vault 88 is huge and filling it all up may prove a challenge i thought i would start a thread where people could post their vault room ideas (that arent the basic ones like clinic and overseer's office) so people could help each other fill their vault with many interesting rooms! :D

my ideas:
shooting range
club
arena (using wasteland workshop)
factory (using contraptions workshop)

To go with the factory you could add a robot type facility using the automatron dlc

Here's my build. I'm not the best movie maker, and I got attacked while making it... so.

My best idea came near the end, after the Overseer's office.

Best thing for inspiration for a vault would be to write a list of things you would find in a city or a town. Then once you have your list create an image bank by donwloading images of the things on your list. then sketch these images on paper and scale them down to fit in a vault room and move things around when neccessary. For exmaple a shooting range would have a long corridor with seperate shooting spots with a shelf in front of the shooter with a gun and a few bullets ontop, a locked room containing a gun rack, lockers and ammo crates and then a small room for the manager that contains a terminal, desk, locker, couch, tv and some other decorations.

So to go with the original premise of the request...I am using nothing but official Bethesda DLCs. Would love to use the working bathroom mod from nexus and the music and video mod, but Bethesda saw fit to disable achievements if I do. Go figure.

Mine is a 4 floor setup in the main room. As you walk in from Quincy, huge 4 tile wide atrium showing both north tunnels and the sign. The first level on the right has a ground floor diner, doctors office, and barber using both the merchant pieces and the relevant vault 88 pieces. Above 3 levels are bedrooms wrapping around a central bathroom on each floor.

Going down the north tunnel to where the big water processer is I put a huge power plant and surrounded it with walls (used the corridor end pieces) so baddies cant blow up the juice. Planted crops there too. I put other generators in different places but that is my main.

On the right I have all of the other shops decked out (armor stands in the armor shops, gun displays in the gun shop) going all the way back to where the floor starts sloping.

I also have a rec center with slot machines and a pool table. Put a juke box in and a bunch of terminals that I loaded the pip-boy games onto for the video game players.

Other floors contain a gym, lab, school room, bowling alley, art gallery, bar, dance hall (use the disco ball), basketball court, and library (overdue books and skill magazines).

The light up signs add a nice touch

I fit an elevator in there as well, along with one next to the stairs going down to the northeast side.

Going down the west slope I put the factory pieces (armor press, etc).

On the northeast (?) side I have a baseball diamond.

All of the entrances are heavily fortified. I was able to get a vault door in place at the Milton entrance. Not so much with the pharmacy one. I could fit in corridor pieces with the sliding doors, powered doors, etc.

All of that just in the main area and the north branch. I sealed off the part where the sentrybot was - didn't seem that useful or buildable.

I also started a ramp for the steel balls going down the northwest drop-off, but couldn't really think of a reason why anyone would want one. I'd have loved to get a roller coaster set from Nuka World.

Then...I ran out of ideas. I like the crafting aspect of F4, but I think Bethesda kind of dropped the ball with the semi-prohibition on modding. If I can god mode the game, what does it matter? It'll keep people interested longer.

Mmm...forgot to add a fishing pier near the water treatment. And of course you can add in gladiator pits from the creature traps section.

My vault 88 is still a WIP, it might get a few more rooms, but so far it contains the following:

* A large atrium with a balcony as a hangout spot as well as several shops.
* Cafeteria with kitchen, bar (shop), vending machines and dining area
* Clinic
* Several living quarters
* Communal bathroom with toilet stalls, showers, sinks and accompanying luxuries
* Overseer's office overlooking the atrium
* Overseer's private quarters
* Overseer's private bathroom
* Gym
* Lounge with TV area, pool table, gambling area and sitting/reading area
* Workshop with crafting stations and power armor garage
* Swimming pool (BYOP mod)
* Greenhouse

Try out this mod and make an institute based laboratory. http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/16354/
Unless you hate the institute.

I don't have any super creative ideas, but I do plan to make a gym and an arcade area. Just gotta get settlements connected properly so they can all share resources to build it all.

I often make a room where I cover the entire floor in conveyor belts and with the manufacturing extended mod, a few gunners cages, and a ton of turrets and you've got an automated people factory.

There is a mod that re-enables achievements. It's called Achievements, and it's on Nexus. It requires the Fallout 4 Script Extender, but that's hardly an issue to install. Been using it for some time now, and it works fine. I've earned several achievements despite using mods.

One Idea I'd maybe have tried out if I had time/inclination would have been building a Little Lamplight-esque settlement of bridges and scaffolds.
