Settlement bed bug...
Meh. I just realized that this bug still exists and plague settlements - after while various settlemnts start shows 0 beds (or 0 of other supply) - is there any reasonable solution for it?

afaik what cna help but not work 100%:

- remove all shops (does nto work always and I would like to evade it as I ahve doctor everywhere)
- dont build any TV - bug occur even in esettlements without TV
- dont fast travel from settlement - playing survival so I dont ft at all
- remove all beds and place them again - only temporary solution, after while it bug again

so any better Idea?

Interesting necro.

I stoped play game long ago but as people still react (even "known" faces - Hello, Peon) - how is the game now? As I udnerstand those issues were never fixed but unofficial patch does it?

His particular issue was never fixed because it is a game engine issue.

The issues liek Ilja mentioned about the buggy beds were fixed in the unofficial patch.

You should fire it back up to knock the dust off for Fallout 76 :P

For pre-place beds. What Bored Peoon said about cells is of course still true.

Vanilla game makes the check quite fast. Often before settlement has properly loaded itsefl. That is one of the problems in Sanctuary. Later check would calculate beds correctly.
Ilja Sep 12, 2018 @ 10:57am
Correction to my post above. I forgot that check was also edited for UFO4P. I thought that another file did this, but I remembered wrong.

This sorted bed calculation for Sanctuary Hills for me. The water remains as a problem, until I open the Workshop to refresh the calculation.

Spectacle Island of course remains as a problem. It is simply too large to deal with.

WorkshopScript: Improved the location check to help make sure more of a settlement's cells are loaded before running a resource calculation. This should correct all but the largest ones which cannot be addressed without changing how the engine works. Mods which expand the size of the settlements also will not benefit much from this. (Bug #23496)

Lol Out Of Bubblegum!

Yeah Ilja, I didn’t realize that the last post was in July *2 years ago*. My bad. But I’ve noticed a lot of other posts related to FO4 that are recent (I think people are getting excited for FO76 so they’re going back to good ol’ FO4) and it’s clearly still a problem so not a bad thing to bring the topic back. Thanks for the quick response too.

I don’t use mods at all (yet) cuz I’m still working on a couple of trophy’s so I’m trying to figure out a work around or fix of some kind with just the vanilla + dlc’s. Also I’m playing on PS4 so there’s not as many mod options I think. Not really sure what’s all available cuz I haven’t wanted to tempt myself by looking at em.

What do you mean by the area is a dead zone?

So far I’ve tested a number of things but for the moment it seems that shutting down the game and restarting it has fixed it *for now*. I know it won’t last though.

You do know that there are mod files in Nexus, which allow you to get achievements from modded games? No one care, if you game was actually modded or not. You of course might care about that (which is totally fine), but IMO adding something like UFO4P and few sanity fix files (like to prevent hovering crops, glowing mouths etc.) are not exactly "mods" for the game.

Dead zones are areas in settlements, where game and settler AI do not detect Workshop objects correctly.

Try to place a bar to downhill of the Abernathy farm. You can't. You can place it at the top and move it down. It will work for a while, but then it will get bugged. You can place other stores there, but they will get bugged later on as well. Setters are assigned, but they will loose trade dialog and ability to create profit correctly. They will often just walk around the settlement, or stand in front of objects. Scripts will get locked and do not refresh.

All of the beds I have in Sanctuary are in a single bunkhouse so the only way that would be possible is if the bunkhouse just happened to be right on the edge of the Cell or something. Which I guess is possible, but the bunkhouse is multiple floors and the beds are about as tightly grouped as they can be without being considered “obstructed” so I don’t know if that’s very likely. It sounds completely logical though so I’m guessing I somehow managed to get them grouped that way. Thanks for the explanation of the cells. I wasn’t aware that’s the way the game operates. That just really blows because I spent a lot of time making Sanctuary really nice and I’ve gotten pretty far into Abernathy too now. It’s been far too long to be willing to reload back before unlocking Abernathy so I guess I’m stuck dealing with it. So far I haven’t found any mods on PS4 that would have a fix for it but I’ll keep searching.

Like I said, I’m playing on PS4 . Nexus isn’t an option (as far as I know) and I can’t find anything that allows trophies with mods in the limited selection. I 100% agree that “mods” made specifically for fixes shouldn’t be counted as mods and I would **absolutely** use them... if I could find one on PS4 that still allowed trophies and then one with quality fixes.

If anyone knows the name of a mod available on PS4 that allows trophies with “mods” installed *please* let me know! The name has to be pretty specific or you get a list that’s basically useless from a search. For instance, I just searched, “Get achievements with mods”. Got 2 results, both of them Pip-Boy paint job mods.... yeah.... wtf?

Ah, sorry. It is late here in Finland and I missed PS4 part.

What I would do is strip or leave what ya got in Abernathy, then send everyone (but Abernathy family, since out cant) to another settlement you get later. Of course I would go pre-build the next settlement first.

Yeah the game engine just dont like you building all 3 of the settlements up. Of course walking into the settlement and opening your workshop corrects the info but then one of the others goes bad. So basically you end up running in circles chasing data errors.

Myself personally I leave Preston's band of tards in the museum, then I just strip the three and carry everything to Starlight Drive in and build there.

How the hell do those people sleep without doors or windows, and radroaches on the prowl?

I would sleep in a steamer trunk at night. One that could fit lots of guns, as well as just me.

Good idea. What a shame though. Sanctuary and Abernathy are 2 really nice settlements to build at. Lots of room and of course Abernathy has the highest build ceiling of all the settlements (that I know of anyway). My first main settlement is almost always Starlight Drive In too. I’ve already got that one basically maxed out though. Oh well. Guess I should just be grateful that they even have settlements to build right? Lol

What would be your next best build site recommendation? I’ve heard Greygarden can be good because you can build up to the highway above like you can at Finch Farm. Never built there yet myself though.

Regardless, thanks for the help and ideas. You too Ilja.

This was my last Finch Farm.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1310011401

The only issue with Finch Farm is the settlers tend to chase the Gunners then end up aggroing the Forged. On top of that the kid you bring back has a broken script, the other 3 have no weapons (so they steal), and they dont have the essential flags.

However Finch Farm and The Slog are both great places I like building.

Nice. I’ve never built much at the Slog either. I’ll have to check it out. Thanks

I miss mfree and Bishop.

It aint a bed issue. You have the cell issue. The game does not like you building in more than 1 of the trinity of cell hell (Sanctuary, Red Rocket, and Abernathy.)

What happens is the game only loads cells around you. Standing in any one of the three settlements only partially loads the other two settlements. Think of loading a 3x3 area around you but the three settlements take up a 4x4 or 5x5 area.

So the AI scripting being retarded (like the programmer) updates that settlement to wha tis currently loaded.

I think bishop is correct that Abernathy is a major culprit & contributor to this problem. Before unlocking Abernathy I had 0 instances of this problem. I finally went and unlocked it (after almost 300 hours on the play through) and suddenly Sanctuary started showing only 5 beds.!

For example, your 5 beds are probably the ones you placed on the west side of Sanctuery, the 2 cells on the east side containign the rest of beds didnt load, so the game assumed the number of beds changed for the settlement and updated it.

Phew, I'm quite glad that roll for initiative was a 19, I heard Bored Peon's round zip past my head. Quite glad to have been missed :)
