How does the sense of exploration compare to Skyrim?
I love exploring in skyrim. While I don't much care for the idea of a voiced main protagonist and limited dialogue...exploring and finding cool areas is the main draw for me in games like this.

One thing that Fallout 4 does well is that it has a ton of explorable locations scattered all around the map.

Excellent. This is what I want to hear. :)

Even though I'm a bit disappointed in FO4, storywise and because it's way to glitchy... It's still Fallout, so there are lots and lots and lots of non essential places to explore... Much more than Skyrim... Much much more!

400 hours here, and I haven't even explored half the map let alone the DLCs...

Yeah the same.

the map explore area is large, I've played over 2400 hours and still find new areas and buildings I never entered!..
Compared to Skyrim, Fallout 4's map is smaller, BUT has indeed more locations to explore, both marked and unmarked ones, as well as more buildings with interiors and more "dungeons".

2400 is a lot whoooo. Near a 1000 hours here and I discover a new unmarked location now and then. Of course, I'm kind of old and forgetfull and maybe I'm just discovering the same places over and over again......but the excitement is still there <.<

The best comparison I can make is this: with skyrim, it's as much about the journey as it is the destination. I find fallout to be the polar opposite - the journey is nice, but the finding of things at the end of it is great.

I agree but one thing skyrim did better imo was even though it was a open world it sort of lead you through which areas you shoud go through first to level up and learn the mechanics. Fallout sort of has a MUCH more openworld and the quests can lead you into areas you arent exactly ready for.
But take my view with a grain of salt havent got the DLC yet waiting for xmas sale dont think the dlc is worth it yet. DLC i'm sure adds alot more to the game.

bigger and better than skyrim.

if you liked Skyrim, you will probably like this game too. It is a typical Bethesda product. By typical: interesting landscapes full of little details. Once you go to the city, there are alley ways, subways, buildings to explore. There is even a verticality to the game, where you can go up scaffolding, attack enemy settlements taht are built on long stretches of wrecked highway. And when you get sick of that, you can decide to see the underwater sites. Or go to the glowing sea. No fallout game, not even the much praised early ones, can match the feel of the glowing sea. As someone who has explored every Beth game since Daggerfall, Fallout 4 lives up to any of those games in shear amount of things to see and encounter. The game is fantastic. And this time around all that junk you find can be used to build a dozen settlements.

warning: the story sucks. As bad, if not worse, than the Skyrim garbage. And many fans are very disappointed in what they did with the RPG elements. These are legitimate complaints. Since you are about exploration (like me), you can not lose picking this game up for the $30 Steam is charging during their summer sale. Do not get the dlc for $50. DLC adds things to explore, but only about $30 worth.
