Help me skip tactical thinking.. Please...
I think this quest is anything BUT tactical thinking.

I think the best ending involves a coalition of the B.O.S (re-purposed military) Minutemen (provisional government and law enforcement) and the Railroad (Intelligence Agency).

However I'd like to achieve this via finishing the B.O.S storyline, which can be done by forcing 'Spoils of war' When Ingram is usually ushering you to kells.
I've heard however that in doing this it becomes impossible to receive the promotion to sentinel unless you use the console to command complete the quest while leaving the railroad alive.

As I'm playing on survival this isn't an option.

I do know for sure though that Finishing Ad Victorium (last B.O.S quest) while 'Defend the Castle' is active completes the latter quest, seeing as the castle can no longer be attacked by the institute. I also know that completing defend the castle usually fails tactical thinking. In theory I should be able to force spoils of war and therefore ad victorium but while Defend the Castle is active, which when completed should fail Tactical thinking and allow me to be promoted to sentinel.

TL:DR I want to finish the B.O.S quests with Sentinel promotion while sparing the Railroad. Is this possible? If you know a way that is viable in survival let me know please and thanks :)

Not sure if this will work but bare with me;

You could install this mod;

http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/11663/?

This allows you to change to easy difficulty, then back to Survival.

So jump to easy, use console commands, jump back to survival then unistall the mod.

Now I don't know if that will "Mod" your save, if you remove the mod, load the game and re-save it should work.

Done this on mine to remove the bodies from "Hangmans Alley". Again, if you're not using mods and you're goling for achievements, this may break it.

Hopefully looking to avoid mod reliance, I might be moving over to beth.net mods soon because I'm sick of load orders breaking with updates and of course there's another on the way soon no doubt.

Anyone else have any 'mod'less ideas?
According to the wiki, Ad Victoriam can only be started if you complete both Spoils of War and Tactical Thinking, as if you bring Ingram the beryllium agitator without having completed Tactical Thinking, she will just wait until you destroy the Railroad in order to power-up Liberty Prime, and since Ad Victoriam is required in order to trigger The Nuclear Option with the Brotherhood, I don't think you can reach this point without having destroyed the Railroad first.

May I suggest you finish the game with the Minutemen instead? You will end up with the three factions co-existing, without having to destroy anyone but the Institute.

If you decide for this approach, leave Brotherhood's questline aside for a moment, and progress through the Institute's questline until you reach Mass Fusion. When starting it, instead of relaying to the Mass Fusion building, warn the Brotherhood, which will start Spoils of War and fail Mass Fusion, and automatically trigger Banished from the Institute, making you an enemy of the Institute, and from this point on, you can request the aid of the Minutemen to destroy the Institute, and finish the game through Minutemen's The Nuclear Option.

This approach won't get you the sentinel rank with the Brotherhood, but you'll achieve the status you want with all three surviving factions.

Have you tested this? I looked at the page on the wiki, but it doesn't seem to mention her waiting and not powering up prime. If anything the notes for tactical thinking, say you can bypass this quest and avoid kells.

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Tactical_Thinking

and the Defend the castle notes on this page say Tactical thinking will be failed if it's still active after completion.

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Defend_the_Castle

and the Ad Victoriam notes say completing while Defend the castle is still active results in Co-Completion.

I know the minutemen option is simpler but I thought being sentinel and general would befit the SS's military background, so if it's possible I really wanna run it. I think I'll test and if so that means there's another ending no one has talked about yet!

erg the ending I want is impossible as it would require inside job and outside the wire being completed before boarding the vertibird for Spoils of War. It's basically impossible

I've managed to start Ad victoriam with defend the castle and tactical thinking active.. I hope this works!!!!

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I did it, I completed a new dawn (where you get sentinel) and left tactical thinking active.

Kells will never hand out a scribe quest again because he still thinks I'm a paladin but I don't care I already got the unique power armor from him! YESSS

But have you gone back to the railroad? Pretty sure they make you enemies after that.
Also how?

If you guys are crutching on console commands for this (which is necessary, indeed). I think you'd find something valuable in reading my guide:

Not in vanilla fallout if you are going bos route. You can have the mm, railroad and bos coexist if you finish the game with the mm.

You can't become SENTINEL and also have the railroad alive without console commands, this is not about keeping the BoS alive this is about completing the BoS storyline
