Vertibird bug - Survival Mode

In the middle of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ no where, decide to call it a day and call in the good old reliable Vertibird to get me back home.. problem is once it lands to pick me up and starts to go where I tell it to, the stupid pilot just lands straight away. Is this just another annoying bug?

That bug is caused by telling the vertibird to travel to the Prydwen, but then changing its course to somewhere else. It still uses the Prydwen docking animation.

Vertibirds are bugged as hell and not worth using. Massive clipping issues, a dog barking can shoot one down cause they're made of paper mache and tin cans, pilot AI is kinda stupid and just flies through buildings, assuming they even take off in the first place. Just leg it to a bed nearby and go home later on foot.

Personally waiting for some 'horse' mods. That or caravan fast travel.

I cannot play without these mods. And this is coming from someone who tries to play with minimal mods.

Hope this makes vertibirds more bearable. To those of us who play in survival mode, vertibirds are very important.

I'd suspect he's running mods... I've seen similar behaviour myself until I recently downloaded a mod which corrects this...

Apparently certain mods inadvertantly alter the world space in such a way as to screw with the vertibird's AI, in particular it's altitude detection or some such...

I don't run any mods and have seen lots of vertibirds flying through buildings, bridges, and even under the ground itself. That's just in seeing them as enemies, though - I keep forgetting I have the vertibird signal grenades and just fast travel instead.
