Scrap junk machine?
Please tell me there's a machine that turns junk into builing materials and I don't need to go through my list of 100+ junk items to search for glass/gears/crystal/F**K YOU BETHESDA FOR NOT ALLOWING US TO SCRAP THE JUNK IN THE WORKSHOP AFTER 6 MONTHS.

Thank you.

you know ... when you make/ build something items auto scrap right? those are basics ;s

Just transfer all the junk you find into your workstation. When you go to build something in the settlement that work station belongs to, it automatically counts that junk as the resources it offers and uses it. No need to break it all down. I made the same misconception when I started playing too so don't feel bad!

They have been allowing you to do this since the start but okay

There is a button you can press in any workbench that allows you to highlight any needed material. Also, any junk stored at your settlement's workshop will be available at the workbenches, while crafting. I highly reccomend the 'Scrapper' perk. Extremely useful.

Jesus Christ, i'm so sick of people giving this answer. Yes i know that when you build the game auto-scraps junk for building materials.

The new building plants in the the DLC require building materials to manufacture, and although they can scrap the junk you put inside them, there's no option to dump in all the junk (like in the workshop) so you have to go through your whole list of junk items in search of the materials you need to manufacture with and put the item inside the plant 1 by 1.

You know you can sort and tag this stuff...right?

Yeah! How dare those people attempt to help you with little to no personal gain for themselves! For shame!

Take all junk items out of the workbench and into your inventory. Find a clear place to drop them, the re enter worshop mode and scrap the dropped items which will now show up in the workbench as components.

I haven't had a chance to use the mod yet, but someone did post this in the review section:

(UPDATED) - (turns out you can use a vaccum hopper on a workshop bench to take items out of it, so you can dedicate a settlement to scavenger and production lines)

Yes i know but it still take way too much time and effort compared to just being able to scrap everything at once and just taking the materials you need. Right now my character has ~3000 lb of junk in the inventory. If I were to want to craft a Plasma Gun, I would need:

4 adhesive
3 circuitry
2 crystal
1 fiber optics
2 glass
2 nuclear material
8 screw
15 steel

If i had the option to scrap that 3000 lb of junk I would just get a list of raw materials and pick from it as much as I would need to put in the plant, however, I can't do that, so I have to look through a list of over 100 different junk items an see which items have the materials I need and if they have it in sufficient quantities.

dump all the junk into a storage type cabinet, place the vac hopper thingy next to cabinet and it will suck everything out and feed the destination. I've not figured out how to sort crap before hand tho, so right now everything ends up in the ammo press . It did then it didn't....uuugghhh back to the drawing board....

That was one of the things I tried a few minutes ago but it seems that the hopper pulls all the items out, not just those that are needed by the plant, which makes it kind of useless IMO.

The component sorter will do that for you. Just put 1 of each material you need in the sorter, add a vacuum hopper to the input and attach the reject output to a collector container, then feed the sorted output into either a container or straight into the manufacturer.
Now you just dump a bunch of stuff into the hopper and go make coffee, then watch your assembly line work for you. ;)
