Best settlements to industrialize?
So. With contraptions, assembly lines, warehouses etc all the rage I'm wondering where to 'set up shop' for my survival character. Most of my settlements are relatively bare bones (survival pit stops) except for hangman's alley which is wayyy to tiny, so I'm wondering what other people think about where one should get these factories going.

I'm aiming for somewhere with access to water and crop growing space as well because apparently these 'makers' use resources like food and water. I mean I'm familiar with most of the settlements but their viability resource-wise is a little foggy. Also, I'd hope it was a location befitting a factory, in the same way spectacle island is befitting of a port.

I'll be interested to hear your suggestions and take them under wing.

And no, distance isn't a problem I got me my vertiderp airlines vouchers tucked away.

The Slog might be good, theres the big pool for water/power, a lot of land for growing, a big space at the side for building a warehouse, the pre-built house, and saugus ironworks for all the scrap.

Abernathy farm and the Drive-In seem to be the best bets for me. Both have large open spaces to build up (very, VERY high up in Abernathy's case) in. The farm hasn't got water access, but has plenty of space for pumps, both regular and powered, whilst the drive-in has the puddle you can build two full size industrial pumps in.

Im thinking Spectale Island not exactly flat but lots of water and room
Obvious choices are Starlight Drive-in, Abernarthy Farm due to their huge horizontal and vertical space to build.

Also, the entrance area in Egret Tours Marina, which opposes the harbor area, has plenty of space you can use for a small factory. Nordhagen Beach and Spectacle Island are also good places due to their large horizontal space, but their irregular relief might give you some trouble (easily fixable with suspended platforms, though).

Yes I was just about to say Egret tours marina seems great for this. I'd only really want maybe an ammunition factory and such which could probably fit in the existing buildings yet alone another small warehouse. the water access should give me more than enough resources and there would be space left over for a greenhouse. seeing as I can't be bothered with logic gates or ball tracks I think this will do nicely.. I'd better go book my vertiderp flight. I hope it'll be able to land nearby :'D

Spactacle Island is perfect in my experience so far.
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of space (and very, very high build object limit), plenty of water and land, and with a simple fundament or scaffolding basis you can even out the gorund perfectly fine.

On a side note, oyu don't need water for anything in the DLC, and you only need crops if you wnat to make the pre-war foodstuff with the food machine. Everything else just uses the usual resoruces you'd expect for weapon/armor/explosives/ammunition making.

Edit: Remember to get a hrode of Brahmin if you wnat to get into ammo crafting, they mostly eat 1 fertilizer per 10 shots (the crafting for ammo seems to always be for 10 shot packages)
