I can't finish the main storyline. Please help!

I've been doing the Nuclear Option quest for the Railroad, and I can't finish it. After setting bomb on a reactor and teleprting out of the Institute I need to detonate it and thus destroy the institue. But after I activate the button, the bomb explodes, screen fades to black and then nothing happens. No cutscene, no credits, nothing. Anyone experienced this before? I have no idea how to deal with this problem, and I will be thankful for any advice.

It's supposed to play a scene. Maybe go back and start from a good save. I've done the nuclear option twice and works well with Minutemen and BOS.

Yeah, I guess I'll do that. Some people say that they had problems with earlier stages of this quest because of some mod in power armor, so I guess I'll try without it and see what will happen.

I am having this problem in 2019! lol

Played with Minuteman and blew up Institute after explosion animation screen goes black and next scene does't start to load.

I have uninstalled all mods, loaded an earlier save(s) but it is always the same, just black screen after explosion animation and then nothing happens.

Anybody know the solution?

I have Ryzen 3, nVidia 1650, 8Gb ddr4

Ufortunately nothing from me. I lost interest in this game not long after thic incident, and didn't care enough to find any solution. Probably better if you start a new thread or look elsewhere. Good luck, man

Did you try the fandom wiki for that quest. They usually list bugs and fixes, And they list the quest states so you can use the console to advance the quest. Only use the console as a last resort.

Thanks guys for your answers, I have tried the console it doesn't help.
Tried other solutions from reddit and forums, didn't help so I uninstalled it, when I have more time and when I lose this bitter taste for the game I will try more stuff, now I am just fed up.

I just fed back on a possible duplicate thread here https://steamcommunity.com/app/377160/discussions/0/2741975115074630213.

I know this is an old thread, but this happened to me, it 'crashed' stuck on a grey screen like the first frame of a video. Task Manager showed it as 'Not Responding'. I alt-tabbed out to Windows and read around on the net for a fix, found the FAQ about console commands and jumping to the Red Rocket, but by the time I alt-tabbed back to the game, the video played and the game continued.

So in some cases, just wait, or alt tab in and out of the game, it may unstick itself after a few minutes. I have a large number of mods installed (Fallout Appearance package), which may be the reason for the long crash-like pause.

Lads hold T if you are on PC, or Y on controller, spam the hell out of it right after you blow up the institute and don’t stop spamming, will skip the cutscene. Your welcome

I opened it in windowed mode and it worked.

i found the solution. basically go into your game folder>data>video, there you will see some files that start with ENDGAME. Change the last 2 letters of the file to the language of your game. for example, i had ENDGAME_MALE_A_RU.bk2, and since im playing in english i renamed it to ENDGAME_MALE_A_EN.bk2. I think this should work
