The Mannequins
Has it ever been explained why mannequins are everywhere in the world? There are probably more mannequins then there are actual people. It gets a little weird after awhile. :spazdunno:

achievment they are not dolls. I always thought they would be synths and come online at some point for a huge battle.

For me manequins are ok..
But those creepy monkeys??!!
Once it scared me almost to death xD
I was sneaking in one building and i saw little monkey on the table.i went closer to it and it started screaming and its eyes went red. And of course now i heard ghouls all around me..

I'm a raider.
I want to sleep now and then.
So i put a mannequin in the shadows near the entrance of my place.
If I hear BANG some vault dweller entered my place and shot to an human figure thinking it was alive, so I wake up, and grab my gun.

Honestly, before having a targeting HUD in my PA that nicely colours stuffs in red, I've shot hundred of mannequins thinking they were enemies and alerted many real enemies...

Their use it's obvious, it's called DECOY.

By fortune at Beth somebody has more immagination that some of the posters here.

A lot...lol
You snipe dummies? When I want to have some sniper fun, I head north, from Nordhagen Beach, and snipe at the raiders in Libertalia.

It's pretty fun, especially when they panic. It stops being fun when
A. They all die
B. They manage to notice you and now you have to kill everyone without the fun of sniping in the shadows
C. Mini nuke!!! (1 or 2 of the raiders, in the wooden structure, have mini nukes. If they get suspicious they will fire in your general direction without even fully detecting you)

That use, I agree with. But all too often it's there for the giggles, and is seriously overused. Mind you, I don't think I've ever actually shot a mannequin... But then I play with the gamma up a lot higher than most people, so they do stand out better.

Not all, just most - Which I'll admit makes it extra nice when you see something else spelt out.

Not even most. I think there's a grand total of 4 "Gary"s in the game.

It certainly seemed like more. A lot more. I may of course be wrong.

I hate 'em. I never hated mannequins to begin with. But every since I played Condemned Those damn things give me the creeps. Too bad we don't have a recipe to build a doll that can walk to your enemies. I wonder if there's a mod to build mannequins at settlements to act as Decoys for enemies to hit then blow up. That'd be awesome.

Because Bethesda thought it was funny, and to ensure we got the joke, they spammed them everywhere. Like gnomes in F3 and FH, or teddy bears. They are like comedians who only know the same few jokes and repeat them. FOREVER.
still more subtle that cassidy qoteing a new hope and that following it up with now where did i hear that at.

or him saying he wants a limit brake in combate

fallout humor hasnt ever been exactly subtle

I found a shipping container washed on shore on Spectacle Island with a few Mannequins in it and some scattered around outside. There were other sealed shipping containers as well. I have a theory that a barge or something crashed and as people found it they were slowly dispersed throughout Boston. The decoy idea makes sense for why they were dispersed. But that at least may give an origin.

PS: I apparently don't know how to post screenshots so here's all my screenshots. The Mannequins one is the most recent

Thats what companions are for.

"Hey Danse...you mind running over there to aggro that Behemoth while I stand over here and nuke it from safety ? "

Mannequins are just evil.

They are the Weeping Angels of the Fallout world.

Freak me out, so they must die.
