Can't see or change any extra facial options on character

So I created my character a few months ago and I was able to change everything to how I wanted it. I got back into playing fallout after the most recent update and now all of my makeup changes I made are gone. I can't change them in by getting surgey. I started a brand new game and the same thing happened; I can choose as menu makeup/scar options etc. as I want and nothing happens, my characters face stays blank?????

I know this is a couple of years old, but I couldn't find any similar discussion, yet alone a more recent one. I hope you already came across a resolution, but maybe it will help someone else. :)

It appears to be LooksMenuComepndium + HD DLC pack causing the trouble, I am testing that now.
Okay, after taking that out everything is working, my character no longer has a strangely textured face that doesn't match the rest of her body, scars and makeup etc are visible again. It seems we are still waiting on a patch for LMC and the HD DLC, from what I understood.

I have also uninstalled the Valkyrie preset, Ida CBBE body preset and tasteful moles, but I do not think any of those were the issue.

My original problem:

I am having the same exact issue. What was even weirder was that when I started a new game, I could see the makeup and some of the tattoos, but once I completed they all vanished. I've tried installing/reinstalling mods and all that - did you ever come across a solution? I've done the Fo4 edits as needed, messed around with my graphic settings etc, this just kinda happened out of the blue.

I'm reinstalling the various look-enhancing mods, I am suspecting that the LooksMenuCompendium is to blame.

Thank you Narlinnod for posting your findings. Realising this was caused by LooksMenuComepndium + HD DLC helped me track down the cause of this.

The problem is caused by incompatible face texture sizes between LooksMenuComepndium and the HD DLC. It can be fixed by installing the High Res DLC Black Face Fix mod

Remove the HD pack and get texture packs from Nexus. The HD pack is bloated and kills performance anyways.
