You need high luck.
And even with high luck you will probably need many attempts.
The perfectly preserved pie is useless btw ;)

The pie really isn't worth the effort

Should know by now. If cake is visualized, the aspect of getting at cake is a lie. Take it from this poor soul I found in Far Harbor, I think. Notice the wood blocks nearby that says "G L".

I've tried the machine afterwards, and just like the others I find, you can't get the food. Not without a mod, that is.

You know that most US "plushie toy" arcade machines are a scam, right? Weak-ass claw-thing and probably designed to agro you more than anything. They don't appear to be scams in Japan, though, when I was stationed there awhile back. For 80Y (about less than 1USD), you can play 3 times on one machine. I usually walked away with at least one stuffed toy and I'd walk around with it under my arm just to see if I could pick up on Japanese women who'd notice. I don't know about today if Japan has fallen to scamming players, but to me it's not in their society to do so. But I could be wrong if that changed.

I have a huge stuffed toy collection from my time in Japan which I'll give to my kid when I have one some day. =)

There's a 99% chance after 59 consecutive attempts (same machine) with 1 luck, and a 99% chance after 130 total attempts with 1 luck. After 2000 attempts the pie will always dispense.

It's done on a scale system
The way to beat it is so sit back in the arcade and wait until someone gets a toy in the claw. Then start counting.

You'll see x number of people fail the game, when one person gets the toy easily again all you have to do is count through the cycle until the claw strength resets.
Bingo, free toy. If you don't mind waiting 2 hours that is.

I have gotten the pie on multiple occasions... I have my luck up to 10, and had to have +6 luck in modifiers from clothing & Day Tripper before it was easily accessible. I can pick one up with that combo in under 8 attempts.

Ah, I see, a way to kinda cheat some sort of consumer fraud thing. If I had the time, I'd do as you'd suggested. Might be better of just going to Toys R Us and charging a toy on my card, be faster, less hassle, less time waiting.

You get what you get. XD

Well the annoying thing that it isn't illegal, it's just chalked up to "wear and tear" or "hardware malfunction" everytime it gets inspected.
So yeah....just go buy a toy lol. Much easier.

There is a diner near Starlight near the diner there is a wrecked truck on trailer is one machine try it I am pretty sure it will give you a pie if you have not got one yet.
SuperSledgeNY Oct 9, 2016 @ 8:02pm
Whatever you do, don't try it at Medford Hospital. The Port-a-Diner there is bugged. When you get the pie, the claw puts it into the chute but it doesn't spawn at the door.
This is what you do, Build 200 of them and run around pressing every single one.
