The pipboy flashlight affect your stealth detection?
Is it just me or does the pipboy flashlight have absolutely no effect on enemies detecting you while sneaking?

as a stealth build, this kinda bothers me. The pipboy light is especially bright it lights up an entire room yet the enemy right in front of my face will still be in a CAUTIONED or HIDDEN state.

always been vanilla no cons. mods, nevef had any effect on or off, been all different sneak levs etc.. it's a myth code
It has always worked for me, and the testing I just did before confirms it as working exactly the way I've seen it before.

For what it's worth, I'm playing with the Sneak perk at rank 3.
fwiw, i use fraps which negates my steam overlay, maybe that has stdwi

I don't use any mods and tested this with a roaming mob. It's not even a test cause it's too abvious. My character's sneak perk is at rank 4.

1. Without the Pib Boy Light, I was crouching for 3 minutes, and he couldn't see me at all.

2. With the Pib Boy Light, I didn't touch any keys, all I did was turning on the Pip-boy light at the same spot, and this was the result.

So please don't spread false information. It affects on sneaking. Especially if you're playing melee+blitz sneak build.

I have a hard time being convinced by that. I mean really, I can shine my light at an enemy facing me a distance away and yet they cant detect me.

It dosent work like that
you wont get insta detected right away when you shine the light

what the pip boy light does is speeds up the "Detection rate"
the detection meter will narrow itself down a lot faster when you get closer to enemies
than it normaly would with light turned off

I think it affects sneaking in the sense of the numbers and proximity, not the actual sightlines or NPC vision. Sneaking on a lower floor, for example, with the light on seems to affect enemies on the floor above like running noise does.
*Thinks of the talking stealth suit from NV..."Your Pip-Boy light is on..."
