No vats unnarmed build viable?
So im wondering if i ll be able to do decent damage with a non vats unnarmed build, im not planning on using power armor most of the time (roleplaying purposes) and i hate vats, its broken af. Also i hate to take that many str points just to get a bit more damage and no usefull perks for the build (kind of bad perks overall), so how much does str affects the unnarmed dmg ? i heard it was 5% .. or 10% per point ?

Thanks in advance.

Rooted (the Strength 9 perk) is great for fighting up close if you stand your ground and move in mnimal jumps, which is easier with VATS, but you can definitely do it without VATS. I found it hard to get used to at first, particulary when dealing with things I'd usually try to avoid, like fragmentation grenades; tanking the hit with Rooted often works out better if it's not anything especially deadly.

Strength gives +10% damage per point, as far as I'm aware, but I'd have to check on how that mixes with other multipliers like Iron Fist. Strength is still highly desirable either way.

Yeah, the strength avoidance ideaology of unarmed, would be the VATS intensive concept. If your wanting to do NON VATS, your gonna be more str and endurance.

If you were to avoid strength for unarmed however, the best way would probally be to use VATS heavily, with the idea of minimal AP use, maximum AP and crit filling. Rather than str and end, it would be agility and luck. The idea thus ends up, unarmed=mimimizing AP use, agility, maximizes total AP, and then luck relevant skills to keep crits filled faster. Theoretically, (and with some luck) you could get the non stop VATS and crit.

For what you want thou, strength and endurance is definately the focus.

I guess i ll start with 9 then, i ll pick rooted but im probably be jumping around and running like crazy, i wanted that kind of fightstyle for roleplaying purposes, but i think it might work to just have a backup style just in case.

And 10% its way too much to avoid, i could avoid 5% but 10 is a ton of dmg, thanks for the info.

Now that i know its 10% more dmg per str point then im certainly going for 9 at start, i didnt want the typical vats crit build, makes the game not only absurdly easy but also takes away the "action" part of the combat, for me VATS was allways an immersion breaker, but i ll try a sniper scientist at some point just to use vats and give it a meaning (kind of..)
