Best thing to do would be to make a settlement you don't like fully equiped with max settlers farming food and water and only then you make it a vassal settlement. That way you shouldn't have to order you raiders to go farming and get a decrease.
Also note that robots reduce the overall happiness of a settlement since they're capped at 50 and can't go higher than that.
Well i don't have any robots but my highest happiness in a raider settlement is like 40. I got atleast 2 chem machines in all of them, atleast one of those booze makers with someone attending to it and multiple radios playing nuka world radio. Water is good, enough beds, oh and yeah a few booze, chem, and gear dealers in some of them. And even when the happiness is like 30-40 the arrow indicator shows that happiness is still decreasing :(
But yeah, each food your raider settlement produces is -3 happiness.
I made a 56 settler farm (300 food + 6 shops) to enslave so 1 settlement could feed all my raider camps.
Sounds pretty handy. Do you need to have all that food attended in the settlement or is it enought that you would for example have 300 mutfruit plants in the settlement :D
EDIT: Well I guess it was a stupid question since you said it was a 56 settler farm so they probably did the farming.
:DD It would be cool if you could just blow some whiny little ♥♥♥♥♥'s head off for complaining about beds or something and it would be considered as an act of discipline :D
well, you kind of can do that with the wasteland workshop DLC. build an arena and assign the complaining settlers to the arena. give him/her crappy armor/weapon and let them fight a creature, another settler with strong armor/weapon (or a strong automatron - with the downside that the robot also will decrease the happiness). :)
you can even make it more entertaining. have you ever wondered if grognak or silver shroud is the 'better superhero'? or if the mechanist can fight robots? just give your arena fighters those outfits (and weapons) and let them fight. :)
