Harold...
So.. I dunno.. this was just an odd thought.. what do you think happened to poor ol' Harold in the brotherhood controlled Captial WAsteland. Assuming his canon-end during the game was to not be killed by the lone wanderer.

Killed off to end his suffering

He's dead.

So's everyone in Underworld.

If not by the BoS then by plot convenience.

More seriously, he's probably dead or in some kind of dimished state. McCready as well as some BoS grunts point out the Capital Wasteland is still a wasteland which wouldn't be the case if Harold were still going full swin.

Well, it hasn't been that long, so I want to think his dopey followers havent really allowed him to spread much beyond their 'safe haven'.

My personal headcanon is that he's alive, but very bitter that the zealots he's got to deal with won't let him bring green back to the wasteland like it should be.

Though it would still take a long time for any trees to start substantial growth, especially the furthey they get from Harold I'm bettering.

Yeah I feel like everyone from underworld was shot and killed and Harold can not move so he is "rooted" in place for as long as his long twisted exists keep moving on. You have to feel bad for the poor guy. He's a tree, he can't move and is forced to hang around crazies all day. He deserved a lot more then he got.

I reprogrammed the robot in underworld. He really didn't like them gouls, so I freed him. Also set everyone in there to non essential.

For Harold I think he died. If not by the lonewonder but someone else passing by who felt sorry for him. Or raiders.

For Harold himself, I'd go for the ending where he reconciles with his current state and finds peace. But the Treeminders probably keep his forest confined to Oasis because the Brotherhood's attitude towards trees grow from an FEV mutant leans towards the slash-and-burn side of things.

Or Harold dies and the Children of Bob become evil tree mutants without his psychic presence. Or Harold dies and the Treeminders start artificially implanting the Children of Bob into themselves in an attempt to create a new Harold, also producing evil tree mutants. Or Harold lives, but develops a taste for conquest, attacking the Brotherhood with his army of evil tree mutants. Or the Children of Bob spread until they make contact with Vault 22 and become an army of evil tree mutants.

In my personal headcannon, Harold was never in Fo3. He's still on the west coast in Gecko happily telling bad jokes to passers by and having deep conversations with Bob.

In Bethesda's lore however, it would seem that he's either dead or nobody from the BoS has noticed a small forest from above. Since it appears the BoS now has a never-ending fleet of vertibirds I'd go with the idea that harold has been terminated. Its rather unlikely that at least ONE BoS squad hasn't seen that green patch in middle of the wasteland and checked it out, finding a now ghoulified tree... or would that be tree-ified ghoul(?) meh, Harold was never a regular ghoul anyways since he was changed with FEV. The BoS would simply see a giant ghoul looking tree and burn it down, cause they aren't willing to take any risks when it comes to possible FEV involvement.

Maybe *all* their vertibirds are in the Commonwealth.
