Massive frame-rate drops in Nuka-World
So I recently started the latest DLC adventure and it's been pretty fun however I'm getting
some really bad frame-rate drops in certain parts in Nuka-World like in the Galactic Zone for example, as soon as I got there my frame-rate dropped to like 5 or 6 fps for a good 20 seconds, if there was a battle it'd last even longer.

Anyone else have this problem? Any fixes?

My setup:
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1
Intel Core i7 2600K @ 3.40GHz
16,0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 799MHz
GeForce GTX TITAN (NVIDIA) 40 °C

Drivers are all up to date correct?

oc that 2600k tho..

you have a very unbalanced computer a titan mixed with a 2600k

That CPU is kinda bottlenecking that Titan... Yes it's an i7, but it came out in 2011... i7s today are more efficient, better core utilization & faster. Also your ram MHz is slow compared to what you can get today that can also affect FPS.

My setup

Intel Core i7 4790K @ 4.5 GHz
GTX 980Ti 6GB
16GB DDR3 @ 1866MHz
SSD

Overclock that CPU &/or buy faster ram if mobo supports it. (Ram is cheap these days.)

New CPU might end up with you buying whole new mobo becuase socket types have changed.

it's not your PC it's happening across all platforms

Unless your playing at low Resolutions "Sub 720p" then NO that i7 2600k is not going to bottleneck that Titan, could it use an overclock? Yes diffintely so, bump it up to 4Ghz and its deffinitely not going to be an issue of bottlenecking the Titan at all.

The only thing i completely agree on is the Ram and its speed. The i7 2600k can support dual channel ram up to 1333Mhz frequency and 32GB capacity. Getting 2x 8GB 1333Mhz Dual channel DDR3 is cheap as chips but the selection can be somewhat limiting. It's not a massive improvement but it helps, that is if your Motherboard supports that Ram speed, do a DxDiag to find out the manufacturer model of your motherboard and google it to find the specifactions.

Lol, why waste money on 1333 ram. Better of buying at least 1866 or higher depending on teh motherboard he is using. Same with overclocking. If the mobo alows it and the cooling setup, the 2600k can easy go 4.5ghz with no problem.

These will make an very noticable impact on performance. Tho every setup can have issues with this game. Mine is suddenly having issues too after last update.

Because according to specs the i7 2600k cannot support any mroe than 1333Mhz. According to intels own specifications any way and I stated 4.0Ghz as a simple overclock. I had a i5 2500k running at 4.8Ghz on my old system, great chips for overclocking.

Unless however that i7 can support XMP profiles.

Unless the 1333Mhz / 2133Mhz Ram costs exactly the same, there is literally no point in getting more unless the CPU supports XMP 2.0.

Drop "Shadow Distance" down to 3000 in the ini files.

did any of the suggestions solve the issue? i've had severe fps drops in seemingly random locations around nuka world. indoors, outdoors, in and out of combat... no pattern to it that i can figure.
admittedly my 2500 i5 3.3Ghz is even less powerful than the OP's, but in no place else in the game have i had frame rates suddenly drop to 5 or less. task manager reports only about 75% CPU usage in the problem areas, and it should be a breeze for a GTX 1060 to run at 60fps.
i ended up completely re-installing the game, without any mods... not even the Unofficial Patch, but the issues persisted into the new install.
only mods i use are Survival Quick Save, Survival Console Enabler, DEF_UI, and Full Dialogue Interface.

well i haven't figured anything out, but i was watching Gopher's Let's Play of nuka world and he too experienced a massive fps drop. humorously, he blamed universal Karma for the bug, as it occurred whilst he was cheating in the Nuka-Cade.

his system is an i7 4790K@4.4GHz and a pair of GTX 980's. no one can convince me that a rig like that needs an upgrade to run FallOut. rather than run out and buy a new processor to try and reduce the issue, i'm going to blame it on poor pc optimization and just deal.

Turn off God-Rays. That did the trick for me.

I have similar issue too, when I started Nuka-World with my new character, and after I went by the train, I was finally in the gauntlet, all laggy from stable 60fps (mostly anyway and on best settings[best looking]), it dropped me to like 20 frames, and everywhere was peices of something, I could walk thought so I opened console and started deleting those "glitches" the FPS did get better, but when I completed this quest and got to Nuka-World I had FPS drops again! and no visible glitches.
My PC specs are:
Intel i7 5960x (overclocked to 4.4GHz)
GTX 1080z
64Gbs of Ram (8x8) aaand I don't remember their clock or name :/
last thing, I use many mods, but non should alter Nuka-World and running in 1080p

huh?
