So Preston is hostile to me now?

Helloy everyone, after finishing the Nuka World dlc and becoming the overboss and leader of The Pack and the Disciples i went back to the commonwealth to raid and do stuff like that, i paid a visit to my main settlement which is Sanctuary and Preston started to shoot me on sight, and it looks like i cant talk to him, any1 else is experiencing this? Will he forever be hostile towards me? I'm also worried that the minutemen at the Castle might be hostile too, any info would be appreciated

Yes, he's very anti-raider.. that shouldn't be a surprise at all you just betrayed -everything- he stands for

He is more upset now that he has to go around and help all the settlements himself.

Haha i always hated the minutemen, i wonder can u at least make him leave Sanctuary or maybe even kill him? It sux to have him shooting me and every1 around acting like nothing is happening

You have to kill him, it's just like when you get the ended friendship moment with any companion, where they lose their essential status for you to exterminate them.

I believe its when u get the Home Sweet Home quest where u need to raid in the commonwealth

So you did Concord after becoming the raider boss, it played out normally until you got to Sanctuary, then Preston immediately became hostile after?

From videos I've seen, the point of no return is placing a raider flag at a settlement. You can talk to him normally up until that point, but once you place the flag he gets pissed and will refuse to talk to you or follow you again. He didn't go hostile in the video I saw, but he did stop following and say that he could never be friends with Sole again.

Well after i resumed my save Preston started a dialogue with me saying that i betrayed him and blablabla and now he is not hostile anymore but we aint friends anymore and not available for trade or to be a companion, guess thats the best outcome possible... i didnt like him but i didnt want to kill him also

He did that to me also when I had him in sanctuary so I loaded up an old save and sent his butt to the castle. After a few raids in the Commonwealth, I found that I couldnt raid 2 settlements because they had open Minutemen radiant quests on them. So I was forced to complete them even though I am full on raider.

Of course in order to fully complete them you still have to report to Preston. I showed up at the castle and he pretty much told me how disgusted he was with me and our friendship is over. His face was of scorn and hate. Heres the funny part...After he finished with his hateful rant he immediately changed his demeanor and said "In the meantime, another settlement needs our help"....Totally wierd and confusing.

If you think about it though. It's funny none of these settlements need help until you release him from Concorde, eh?

Would almost make you think, that he was arranging all the kidnappings and grief from the shadows in order to make the local community think they need to rely on the Minute Men. Problem, Reaction, Solution. Just like a Mafia protection racket. And we already know he's a control freak who uses you as a front in the same way as Gage.

Its funny how he changes his tone from one sentence to the next.Friendly voice: "Hey i just got word from the castle maybe you should go check it out" Changes to angry voice: "I didnt expect this from you, get out of my sight!!" Yeah yeah, you two faced son of a ***** :P

I had him go hostile on me when I turned up at Sanctuary after just running a handful of raider missions (no flags planted), but when I reloaded and waited a few days before going back he seemed perfectly okay. A couple of the missions were opposing minutemen, even though I never personally fired a single shot (I just watched the raiders wipe them out), so it may be that this was just a regular hostility that wore off, rather than a story-induced break.

Is Preston's angry dialogue unique to the Nuka World effects, or is it the same dialogue he gives if you tick him off by dropping your normal affinity (for example, if steal frequently or pop lots of jet when he's around)?

Just found out it is possible to make preston friendly again. Aparently he can give you the open season quest even after finishing nuka world. Not sure what the exact conditions are..
