Fallout 5 - Minnesota (trust me)
Just saw a post about Fallout 5 - New York and thought id make this a thing.
me and my friends been shooting this around for a bit, and its actually developed into a coherent and pretty neat idea.

Minnesota-Land of 10,000 lakes, Post war, Nuclear Winter hasnt quite left the northern state (first real Winter FO without the need for mods)

Two warring factions, The Vickings faction controls Minneapolis, the Packers faction in St.Paul.

Mall of America as the hub city for trade and housing.

Target field as a Fight pit style arena.

Raider outfits for the warring factions based off jurry-rigged Football gear with corresponding colors.

Winter Survival in the harsh nuclear snow, including snow gear, fur coats, camping for warmth when that blizzard hits.

Many new creatures adapted to the harsh cold climates. "Polar Bears" (really just Yao Guai with fur to stay warm) FrostLurks, Rad-Moose, Wolves.

Id honestly love to see this come true because its an entirely new experience not seen in any Fallout games yet. I imagine its like you took Skyrim and Fallout and threw it into a blender.

Tell me what you think, and if your drinking pals with Bethesda's Dev team, slip em a note under the door about this if ya could, thanks ;)

Why is it that it would be winter in NY in a Fallout game? Is there any lore behind this? Im just curious, not hating on the idea or anything.

This seems like a pretty good idea! I would support this for sure! I really like the idea of trying to survive nuclear winters!

I'd love to see this become a real thing. As great as it was to have the weather in Fallout 4, I still felt a bit underwhelmed with the lack of environmental changes, so having an entirely winterized theme would be a much welcome experience! :steamhappy:

Don't think that would work on a mass scale OP, because there are a lot of nerd gamers that have no interest in sports. I happen to love watching NFL though. Go Hawks.
Plus DLC could take you down the Mississippi River. We could go to Memphis and save ghoul Graceland from the remnants of the Legion. Visit New Orleans and help deal with a kaiju-sized mirelurk. See where Obsidian Fallout meets Bethesda Fallout in St. Louis. All on an atomic-powered riverboat.

The soundtrack would kick so much ass.
A little too sports focused for my taste but some interesting ideas for sure. One of them being its location. It's right beside Lake Superior and it has a massive park (Superior National Forest) which would make for some really interesting locations in game. If they ever did go with this for a future Fallout game it could mean a DLC based in or near Canada since it shares the border

Guys, why winter though?
I'm just sayin', but "winter" has always happened since FO3 at least. It simply has never snowed or hailed. And Nuclear winter wouldn't last 200 years cosidering it's just ash falling from the explosion.

I personally don't like trudging through water in power armor, or two tons of rads swimming in it, so those 10,000 lakes would just be in the way.

Why football centric? In fo4 we see one guy that cares about baseball and i'm certain most people either ignored him or failed to correct him on what baseball is. what would make football be more impactual? I would imagine hockey in Minnesota, what with all those lakes and all.

What reason do I have that would make my character adventure in Minnesota? FO 3 we have to find Dad. FO:NV we need revenge on getting shot in the head, FO4 go find our kidnapped son.

And finally, why would there be no bigger, longer running factions like BoS not be in the area? Is it that inactive that no military is present like the Gunners(well they're a merc group but still quite large and militant) or the Enclave?

I mean, you say you've thought it over but I haven't seen any mention of plot or lore, just a new sandbox to shoot things. What makes this a Fallout game and not a modded Operation Flashpoint?

Minnesota in Fallout? The Twin Cities in Fallout? Fallout Tactics has a map that shows 3 craters in Minneapolis so unless thats non cannon GL with that. :steamsad:

I had a similar idea about Detroit.

Mo Town music
Rivalries between two rival groups: the native Muricans and the invading Knooks.
References to RoboCop, Dr. Detroit (woo-woo!), etc
Visit the Chryslus Factory and build a Highwayman that drives along sorta slow but has a big trunk, a place to store power-armor and serves as an immersive fast-travel mechanism for a limited # of locations but only along the highways.
Boat trips to special themeatic locations along the great lakes (DLCs, maybe a first nations remnant etc)
Wintery weather, preferebaly with an actual 2 season cycle.

Then the boat should be fashioned after the old Detroit Bob-Lo boats, and there should be a ghoul Count Scary running around, just for fun. And "♥♥♥♥ the Bruiser" too (not the real one, his radio doppleganger of many years. Rocknroll radio in Detroit was awesome at one time.)

First Nations? Heh. If it extends to southwestern Ontario, the former CFRB Ipperwash. Watch out for the ordnance from WW2 buried in the sand that would probably STILL be popping up around 2280. :P (Yes, that's sarcastic, I remember the place and have no idea why they would want to take it. There's nothing there that's of any use to anyone BUT the military.)

And wild-ass thunderstorms.

Don't forget, if the map was drawn correctly, you not only have Detroit and its 'burbs, you also have Windsor if you can navigate the bridge or tunnel. Not like there's anything interesting there, but it looks like a dump, too.

Fallout 4 was originally supposed to be New York, but I'm guessing when they realized Creation Engine couldn't do height very well, they went to Boston which has much less altitude spots.
