I couldn't remember if there were any perks or permanent increases once you get that level.but the intelligence goes way up. Not sure if it was permament increase though.
Also, make sure you don't put in four fusion cores. I made that mistake the first time I did the quest and they all die. I put three this last time and they all live and you get like 200 alien rounds or something after completing the quest.
