Institute Elevator Won't Stop on the "Middle Floor"

So it's my first time entering the institute. I have finished the quest "Institutionalized" and already talked to the Shauns. It was good when the elevator brought me to the lowest level. Now, I'm back on the entrance level area and I wanted to go down to the "middle floor" that has so many people, rooms, and stuffs. Unfortunately every time I enter the elevator, it keeps transporting me to the "Shauns" area, which I don't desire. I wanted the elevator to stop on the "middle/second" floor in order to meet Patriot for the mission Undercover Underground. Can somebody help me on using the Institute elevator? Thanks in advance.

those two points are the only programmed destinations unless you specifically are accessing from the main atrium. just fast travel to the institute (fast travel should be available from anywhere in the institute) and it should take you to the main atrium.

Where can I find the stairs? As I remembered correctly all door access are locked and I can't even explore much of the Institute area.

Where can I find the stairs? As I remembered correctly all door access are locked and I can't even explore much of the Institute area.

IIRC, there are side corridors accessible near all the main "department" doors. From there, you can find staircases to the middle level.

If you haven't talked to Father yet, I think you have to do that before you can access much of anything.

IIRC, there are side corridors accessible near all the main "department" doors. From there, you can find staircases to the middle level.

You kind of need to be with the Institute anyway in order to progress with the Railroad questline and Underground Undercover. If you don't join (at least by initially accepting Father's offer to come in and see) or get kicked out, the main Railroad questline is dead in the water.

You kind of need to be with the Institute anyway in order to progress with the Railroad questline and Underground Undercover. If you don't join (at least by initially accepting Father's offer to come in and see) or get kicked out, the main Railroad questline is dead in the water.

So I just wanna give a short update. Now I'm already able to explore much of the areas in the Institute AFTER I have agreed to Father in "joining" the Institute. As for the elevator, it doesn't really matter anymore as I can already access the stairs from Father's room to the atrium and anywhere, although the elevator will just statically bring you back and forth from the initial teleportation entrance down to Shaun's room. Anyway, I appreciate all the help and answers in this forum. Thank you very much guys 🔥👍
