Fallout 4 is the best one for me, i'm tired pretending it's not.
I played all the other ones, and sincerily, they are really fun, but i can't stand playing them for much time.
Fallout 4 has the most beautiful open world, best companions with lots of possibilities of relationships and weapons costums.

I always avoided talking about it with other fallout fans 'cause most of them love 3/New Vegas and hate the others, but now i admit.

everyone has their specific game / genre for a reason... so.. the companions and weapon/armor mods aside.. why is FO4 yours?

for me its the open world, the fact that i can advance the story at my pace.. and that i can shape my settlements almost how i please.

Its been objectively proven by science that fallout is best to worst

1, 2, 4, 3,tactics,vegas,76 and BOS

Of course revealing my in depth methodology would take to long and is beyond the layman's compression so you'll just have to trust both me and Science itself that we've got the 100% factual ranking that is in no way based on personal opinion.

That said well 1 and 2 are the better games you need to be in the right mood like enjoying a fine wine as such I have more play time in 4.

Well, I never played Fallout 1 and 2. But I did 3. 4 is far superior for my entertainment.

Yep, most playable, less cringy and unreal physics. Once well setup, no freezes or crashes like the others. A TON more things to enjoy in it. Well beyond end of story.

Your favorite is just that, your favorite. Nothing wrong with having one, nothing wrong with Fallout 4 being it. You do you.

The only thing I consider New Vegas and 3 doing better than 4 is the dialogue system (which uses a wheel that doesn't show you the full line) and the initial character building (no skills or traits). Otherwise, Fallout 4 is better in every other aspect:

• companions have even more depth and content than they had in New Vegas, with better quests to boot
• returns the random encounters that were missing in New Vegas
• world has less empty space, more to do
• better zone respawning mechanics, so locations aren't completely worthless after you clear them out once
• most expansive weapon and armour customisation in the series
• best graphics (obviously)
• enemies have improved AI and movesets compared to previous games
• settlement system is an interesting mechanic that is a good use of money and resources you would otherwise have no use for
• no more ugly green or orange filters on the screen
• radio host isn't Three Dog, which is a relief
• UI and QoL features are very appreciated
• better movement, combat, and gunplay
• I think it has the best radio and ambient soundtrack of the series

Anyone saying that the RPG mechanics have been diluted is correct, but I don't think they've been significantly hampered. The perk chart tries to integrate the removed skill mechanic in some way, and the core gameplay is the same as in the other Bethesda-published Fallout games. If you were to get two mods to fix the awful truncated dialogue display, or re-add traits in character creation (if you liked them); then I can't find too much to complain about.

Less goofy stuff like Head is a limb, even without luck maxed and perks, heads blow off easily in this game, so do legs. With everything maxed, your targets become a pile of indescribable flesh & blood, maybe a bit too gory. Base limb break threshold needs raised a few notches.
