Finding picked up Holotapes, logs, documents etc.. .
I pick up stuff I need to read or listen to, often just playing a Holotape before putting it in my inventory because I know the hassle of trying to find it in the pip-boy.

Is there a mod or best way to locate recently picked up stuff. I'm using Bahls Item sort but it doesn't solve the problem of trying to find this stuff burried in the Pip-Boy.

I can't be the only person that has this issue. It's like there needs to be a search features on the Pip-boy and why Bethesda thought it was a great idea to cram everything into the MISC section was a bad choice.

Thankfully you can put most of the misc items like holotapes in containers. So I just put all old holotapes and notes in my bedroom drawer back home.

This can actually be a clue since holotapes and notes that are associated with quests you have not completed (or may not be able to start yet) cannot be deposited in containers.

Intresting, didn't know that. Thank you.

I had a lot and i'm level 56 now. You could probably get the idea of how many of those I'm hoarding then. haha.

You're welcome. I decided to clear all my misc stuff out and found this out. This led me to start looking at these notes and the misc quests to try to knock them out while traveling around. It led me to a lot of interesting and sometimes hidden areas. But some of them are for companion quests that you may not be able to start until you get your affinity high enough but they too cannot be dropped or deposited.

Edit: Many of them are just "drug cache in a building" type quests. But there is just a ton of backstory available on some of these. Random people doing stuff around the time of the Big War. Some of it is pretty interesting. But it just goes to show the work someone put into creating the little side story and quest to help you find it.

I built a special place where I have time to look at my bubbleheads and comics:

Why don't you just read/listen to it pretty much right away after picking it up? I also had issues sometimes to find the one I just picked up (since I have like 60+ of them) but it's not an issue if you do it right away.

Does it come up when you pick up notes? I don't remember. Anyways though, I just did what was given for a solution. Cleaned it out, I didn't know you couldn't drop incompleted stuff.

There is an option to play a holotape instead of picking it up which will in fact pick it up and start it playing. I often fail to do this though. I believe the same is true for notes. Again, if you are like me though you are too quick on the trigger before you see the option.

If you pick up a note or a holotape from a dead body or another container, you simply cannot read it/listen to it. You have to find it manually in your Misc menu.

Part of the annoying thing about it is that they also shoved keys in there, making the Miscellaneous section unreasonable long since you can't generally drop keys (or do anything else with them that requires you to access your inventory). I thought they'd already learnt better options than this with their previous games.
