Power Armor repair and maintenance and usage questions.
I'm a little new to Power Armor. I mostly play without it. Like a ninja and sneaking and sniper from long range and that stuff. No doubt it's very useful. Upon trying it a few times it's like you are in a Tank.

Does it help you a lot? Yeah. You don't worry as much about explosive damage, rads almost at all, fire damage, tough enemies are easier. But it gets beat up too. You are repairing the hell out of it all the time. It's enormous amounts of materials that you are going through. Mostly steel which is easy to find. But some others like circuitry which is harder to come by but not impossible.

1) Does power armor swap out your fusion cores automatically when you run out?

2) Does it swap out parts? Like left arm for example. Because I was carrying a left arm some extra T45 parts. It seemed to swap it out automatically when it got damaged in battle. Does it do that?

I guess I see it for very tough battles. But maybe not all. Because it gets beat up repeatedly. You are repairing the hell out of it all the time and very expensive raw parts cost IMO. No doubt the world is not as scary or hard with that on. But it has the downside of draining your bases supplies at very expensive repair parts cost. You lose so much material repeatedly repairing it. Almost worth it for tough battles. But maybe not to be used all the time.

The other things I don't like is it's a little clunky and I see like 75% of the world. Instead of all. Because you are that in helmet view. I walk right into mines and trip wires because I don't see them. The plus side is they don't do much damage. To me at least. But maybe the armor.

It's a lot of repair, repair, repair at expensive cost of valuable parts. But no doubt you are a walking Tank with it on. About 5 times tougher to kill. If not 10. It's not even scary anymore. But it has some downsides. In addition getting out of it to hack computers. Which I hate.

if you stick with t-45 power armor the repair cost is only some steel and 1 piece of circuitry
so not that expensive

as for your other questions yes the fusion cores are replaced by themselves when empty if you have more in your inventory, and as far as I know the parts don't auto swap if they get destroyed.

you can also conserve repair costs by not repairing the armor until it is in really bad shape
since the repair cost is the same whether the armor is totally busted or almost pristine.

hope that helps. happy gaming

Oh that helps a lot. I think I did it wrong. LOL. I repaired the whole thing. But I think just 2 limbs were damaged badly. Maybe I should not have done the whole thing. Or wait until it gets really bad. Just repair the bad parts and wait until it's really bad. Also the lower level T45 is less repair cost of parts.

Those are all really useful help and input. Thanks a lot.

They provide the best protection than any non PA armor combinations. And the player will suffer no damage when falling. But also have drawbacks. Not that great for sneaking and you can not swim in them. Plus like you, I do not like the hood visuals. Even if you do not have a PA head pc. on, it is the same. Which is dumb.

As far as repair costs, the T-45 and T-51 are not that bad. Usually only needing steel for all parts of it to be repaired, except for the torso. Which needs a small amount of aluminum and circuity. The T-60 and X-01 are expensive to keep repaired. The amount of aluminum needed, can add up quickly if you use those PA suits a lot.

The best power armor suit in the game overall, when considering protection and repair costs in my opinion, is the T-51 Nuka World Cola suit, Which is already fully upgraded to the F series and the paint scheme, adds +3 to agility. Making it a decent suit for sneaking. But not as good as lite armor modded for sneaking.

That makes sense. Excellent inputs. I kind of agree with your first paragraph. Great armor with lots of drawbacks. Call me crazy. But a lot of the game I honestly like to play without it. The expensive repair costs. The pain in the rear to repair it. The clunky no sneak around stuff. The terrible view in the helmet. Getting out of it to hack computers which is ridiculous IMO. I think it's best reserved for very tough battles. But maybe not all. The repair costs are just too high.

I started out playing in my PA. I never would get out of it. Then tried heavy armor. It open up the world to me. Love the sneak with the perks. I still go back to the PA when things get rough. If you sell your core with a little power in it still you will get about 200 caps. I have been in the middle of a fight and it was pause and swap out cores.

It definitely has a lot of downsides. Still for very tough battles it's best to be in it. For a lot of the game I like to sneak and pick off from far with sniper rifles. Even stealth boy sneak attacks and things too. My play style isn't all Power Armor. I'm glad to be out of it sometimes. Not to mention the cost of supplies to repair it. The pain in the rear to repair it. I got a lot of PA suits around the map. Mostly they just sit there. Used when I need it sparingly. For certain battles.
