A lot of Piper confusing things?
OK I got the Gift of Gab Perk. Which she gives.

* First of all I don't even remember her giving it to me at all. Usually that thing pops up on your screen and you click OK. Like your reached the highest affinity level with Piper and now you have this Perk. I don't remember seeing that at all or being notified or clicking OK. But it's in my Pip Boy. So apparently I already have it.

* I don't understand how to romance her or even if you can anymore at this point now that I have the Perk. I guess the advantage is +15% XP for a limited time when you sleep with her. Also that she is so hot. LOL. In the beginning of the game I was romancing Cait. I was sleeping with Cait. Piper would walk up to me in Sanctuary. She would start conversations. I always chose the "thanks" option. I NEVER chose the "lets be friends" option. I just chose neutral stuff. Not flirting much either. Because like I said Cait was sometimes right there in the same area standing right next by. I thought that would offend Cait and make her mad. So I was kind of neutral. Thinking I would romance her later. Did I mess up? Is there any way to fix this at this point? It's terrible I can't romance Piper for a lot of reasons.

1) So how does her Perk Gift of Gab suddenly appear in my Pip Boy without ever being notified? All the others notified me I reached the highest affinity level and I had to click OK.

2) I already have her Perk. Was kind of neutral to her but NEVER said "lets be friends." Just "thanks" was usually my option. Can I romance her at all at this point? The times I have tried to trigger some conversation the romance usually comes up RED. I don't want to do that and fail. I have 10 Charisma BTW. I also have a suit, formal hat and glasses which bump me to +14. But I see no way to romance Piper at all. Anybody know the problem? Am I doomed here?

Is this like a glitch or bug? I see some basic things regarding Piper and difficult to romance and reach the Perk too. The Perk I apparently have but oddly don't remember even receiving it. I guess I just don't understand this situation.

Doesn't everybody quick save right before hitting the dialogue choices of chance?
I wouldn't really know for certain about whether Piper's option returns at a later point, having always used the quick save method every time, but it's quite possible that she will repeat the same last level of dialogue with you over and over given enough time, that would give you the option, but you missed the chance to flirt with her the first time. If you respect Cait so much why are you bothered?

So you are supposed to flirt with her the first time? I didn't do that because Cait was standing right next to me in Sanctuary. We were all standing like 3 feet away. The 3 of us. I didn't know the effect this would have on the game.

I guess for the +15% XP. Which I can get from others I have romanced. But also because Piper is so hot. LOL. Did I mess up? I already have her Perk. So I don't know if you can romance her after you get her Perk. Also I don't even remember receiving it. Which is weird. The others notified me and you click OK. I never saw that even come up with Piper.

There's probably a console command to trigger the dialogue or something, but I reckon she'll repeat the dialogue given enough time. I know that Preston will have that last conversation over and over spaced out over time because I never flirted with him, probably to give you the option if you change your mind. However, once you romance Piper or others they don't repeat the same dialogue. So there's hope for you. But if you're in a rush maybe google if there's console commands for it.
Edit: And yes I think the companions don't judge your conversations with eachother, not normally anyway since they're not really supposed to all be present at the same time anyway. I don't think they mind.

As said above : make a save before the speech and reload if you fail.

btw sorry to ruin the party but the companions don't have conscience of each other, i mean there is not such thing as cait being sad because you romance and sleep with piper.

only by roleplaying and imagining.

OK that's good to know. They don't have a conscience of each other. They won't be mad. That clears up a lot right there. I don't understand how I have the Perk. But it appears to be there in the Pip Boy. It says thanks to your relationship with Piper you received Gift of Gab.

First I honestly don't remember romancing her. Although I may have a little in the beginning in Diamond City. Second I don't recall flirting a lot with her generally. Finally I definitely don't recall the pop up notice "you reached the highest affinity level with Piper and receive the Gift of Gab." I specifically remember seeing that with the others.

So this is only by romance? I got Valentine's Perk by doing a mission to take down that mob boss. Sometimes it's mission specific.

OK all of that is great information and good to know. Thanks for the help.

if you choosed to be friend and gained the perk, piper will regularly engage in an affinity dialog so that you can become lover.
if you didn't used the flirt dialog options in the previous dialogs ( when affinity was 500, then 750 ) then this last flirt option dialog is red, supposed to be harder.

you can decide not to pass this flirt dialog and chose " you'll always be my best friend" in order not to become lover. piper will continue to give you a chance to become lover and this indefinitively.

but if you fail this last flirt dialog option, then it's over : friends forever. nevertheless i'm not quite sure.
therefore make the moment you decide to answer this red flirt dialog.

OK that makes sense. So I will have more chances.

1) I never failed a RED option with PIper. In fact I never even choose the RED options. Only if it's yellow.

2) I never said "lets be friends." I always chose "thanks." A generally neutral option. But it definitely seems they have made it harder as you say. It's very hard. But If I get a yellow option later in the game I will give it a chance. Probably save before. But with my high Charisma yellow almost always works for me. So hopefully I will get it later in the game. I will keep looking for it.

no, you get the perk even if you don't romance and chose to be friend, the perk is yours when max affinity is reached. whatever you choose to be friend or lover.

it's not mission specific, it's gained at max affinity level (1100) , but some companions like cait and nick have missions to do in order to advance in their affinity indeed.
for exemple piper has no mission.

OK that makes sense. Thanks for your help.
