No power to settlement (bug or mod issue?)
Alright folks i have an issue as you can see in the title. i run the Sim Settlement 2 mod because i'm lazy at settlement building now FYI so if its a bug because of that mod just tell me i'm and idiot. I have a nuclear reactor to power my settlement Sanctuary which produces 500w of power (bless you Vault tech DLC) which is all the power i need to power my over abundance of beautiful missile, grenade launching, and MG42 (love those in action) turrets. when i set up the power grid everything worked. my power was at 500+, all turrets and decorative items all powered. i go out questing to get some of the annoying monkey brain quests out of the way to take a break from building. after 2 days (in real time) i come back to my settlement here is where it gets weird. before i left my power was 590 something, Defense was over 800 (turrets and arty for days), water was 40, all the kilowatt leeches worked properly. i come back after loading my save and for some reason. i still have full 590+ power BUT my defense was down to 0 despite my turrets/searchlights still moving and functioning as if there was power connected to them although when i went up to them the Lighting bolt symbol was RED saying it had no power, same with the kilowatt leeches. everything said it needed power despite my settlement (so it says) i still have power...

1.) I checked all the power lines to see if i missed a connection, all connected so that wasn't it.
2.) I checked through my mods to see if something moved again (thanks Vortex i hate you), nothing moved so that wasn't it.
3.) I verified the game files TWICE, reloaded back into my save... nothing worked so that wasn't it.
4.) I checked every ini. file that regarded the power and power lines... everything was in order and it was an awful time so that wasn't it...
5.) I went to wade through the swampy marsh of the internet also know as Reddit in hopes that someone else had this same issue and one of those Redditor mods with the holy power of the anime body pillow waifu would bless the forum with their guidance and knowledge to fix the issue. and no luck
5.) I came here and looked for forums with this issue and i came across one guy who had this issue... but you know... nothing useful because people on here don't stay on topic.

I have no idea why this is happening and it is driving me insane because i think i might be missing something...

I run weapon and armor mods mostly. the only mods i can see really conflicting with the power issue is the SSM2, Vivid fallout all in one, True storms, and possibly the Pip Boy Flashlight (all of which are my non-weapon or armor mods).

the only thing i found that works is if i remove all of the power lines then re-place all of the turrets and kilowatt leeches one by one and i HOPE TO GOD that's not the only answer because i have A LOT of everything that needs power and i don't think I'm strong enough in the autism nor do i have enough pot to redo all of that so if someone here can at least point me in the right direction to figure this out that'd be rad!

Known issue, try disabling autorepair powergrid and autodestroy powergrid in the options. Iirc, that should be under tools (not using SS2 atm, but SS1).

Edit: found it on a forum post, directly from Kinggath himself:

"If you have MCM, the options can be found under Workshop Framework > Workshop Item Options, the options are called: Power Grid Auto-Repair and Power Grid Auto-Destroy."

I think there is a reset button for that in MCM to get your power grid back up.
I also think that reset button doesn't work.

You problem sounds exactly like the known and common problems with the latest few versions of Workshop Framework / Workshop+ .. As was said above, in your pause menu, select MCM, scroll down to Workshop Framework, find the "F4SE Power Grid" tools section, and turn OFF all the options to Auto-repair, Auto-destroy, Auto-check, etc. You may need to fix your grid one more time after settings take affect, but should be good after that.

There is more discussion on this on the Nexus Mod page for Workshop Framework, and on KingGath's web page for Sim Settlements.

So, you have to mess with the settings in MCM, and then repair the grid manually?

First, just try turning off all the "Auto" power grid settings in Workshop Framework MCM menu .. If your grid is messed up, and changing the settings alone does not fix them, you may need to repair your grid manually for one last time. You should have no other grid issues going forward from there.

First autorepair and autodestroy setting are part of the problem but you should let it on so here is the solution but be warned you need to optimise your settlement after it you need to replace all powerlines this wil fix it temporary the problem is caused by slow loading of your settlement you can fasttravel to it and it could be allright but the moment you travel normal to a settlement and the generator takes too long to load you get the problem again this can also have something to do with chunks/areas example sanctuary hills there is a new area right behind the workshop solution could be to have seperate powelines that dont cross that region. in most settlements i also switched to "vanilla" power because i dont fully trust that mod powergeneration.

Also (but this might not be related) i use vanilla powerpoles to create a line from wich i power the sim2 buildings so the buildings get time to load without breaking the line.

well i tried the MCM and... it worked! thanks everyone! now my next goal is to figure out how to get Tod Howard to reply to my DMs so that he doesn't launch a new patch that'll ♥♥♥♥ up the 180 gun mods i have.
