Robot Repair Kit
I have read that you use them like a stimpak. I go to aid then click on it but with my robot it tells me I can not equip it. How do I use it? step by step please?

Ever had one of your followers (be it Dogmeat, Piper or whoever) being downed in a firefight? You rushed to them to help them and when you looked at them you got the option to administer a stim-pack? Works the same with robots. You don't equip them but when a robot is too damaged and you stand near them and look at them, you will get the option to use the repair kit.

Like with Nick and computer hacking I have to move around to find that one little spot. With dogmeat and Nick I do it with out thinking. Thanks I just checked and all I get it the take or transfer option.

I find them utterly useless. Robots repair themselves out of combat and during combat is when you can mainly use it. Or maybe right after if they are badly damaged.

Usually, I find that I can kill whatever it is faster than I can repair them anyway. Then they repair themselves as I loot the area. By the time I'm done, they are fully ready and we move to the next area. Still... they go down so rarely, it's a non issue from the start.

Robot repair kit works just like using a stimpack on a downed ally.
They get knocked down in a fight you use it to get them back up.
Just like a downed ally they get back up themselves after the fight ends.

Unless you are in survival mode, where companions do not automatically pick themselves up after a fight. You have to heal (or in this case repair) them or they will leave you and return home.

Ah ha, indeed.
I had forgotten ( crazy, huh? ) about that.

So maybe I did not get to her it time? She is not a companion. She likes to hang out at the beach.

More than likely. You use them on a robot, just like you would use a simpak on a human, synth or Dogmeat companion. Click on the robot repair kit and then the robot to heal ( repair).

FYI, the fully mechanical Nick Valentine still uses stimpacks.
This mod fixes that:
