Almost 7 years since the game has been released and god rays still resets to low quality even after turning it off.

Bethesda doesn't read these forums. Try searching for a mod, or post on their Discord Server.

there's a console command to turn dogsprays off; it clears the dust in the air too
editing inis needs 2 changes; you'd have to google them

the launcher value is a translation of the ini setting, not a direct correspondence
it's probably a bug in the code
if you don't reset it to off and save, yes it will update the inis to an undesired state

I don't use bethini but that might work correctly

Steam doesn't allow links to be posted until it checks them to make sure it's not anything shady. And it's JUST a .jpg. I just tried it. Perfectly safe. It's just a meme, anyhow.

I think I used console commands and now it's off regardless of launcher (I also don't use the launcher anymore, I un-steamed this game).
The commands are:
GR OFF
GR FOG 0

I know how to turn them off. It's just sad that after so many years. Bethesda still hasn't fixed this issue.

There's a TON of quest bugs and glitches that Bethesda had lots of time to fix, but did nothing. It was left to the modding community to fix the game for them, in the form of the F4UP

I've turned off godrays in my ini and have literally never needed to do anything at all since then. Not sure why you're having issues with it. If you've relaunched the game out of the Steam library it may have overwritten your modded file. That's the only time I've ever needed to even glance at my settings. But even after doing so several times by accident, my godrays and removed grass rendering are still just fine.

Why should they invest money in fixing something that's "out of circulation" sort of speak, it's not producing any income for MS-Bethesda ?
