OK that's great advice. Because I really need it. I'm running low. These hellish battles are really beating me up and draining all my ammo. I'm still pretty under powered compared to what I will be later in the game. I think I have a pretty good plan. I just don't have the overall build I need just yet. I haven't hit enough levels and enough Perks yet. But I'm sure I will eventually.
Oh that's bad. Because I went back to look for ammo. There was none. So I guess I reset it and made it a little worse for myself. How long about? 1 month in game days? It's definitely not 1 week IMO. Because some of those missions I did over 1 game week ago. There is for sure no new ammo spawning there. So my guess is it's longer than that.
You shouldn't be having issues getting enough 10mm, .38, .45 ammo or fusion cells.
Also, if you loot some ammo from a corpse, loot the weapon also. This will give you extra ammo. Then you can drop the weapon if you do not want to carry it or sell it.
I need more missiles. I fire those a lot at difficult enemies. I need a lot more of the chain gun ammo. Is that 5 mm? I have a great chain gain that lights people on fire. I think I had like 800 rounds. But I got into 1 hellish battle. I held my finger on the trigger a little too much. I had like 800 rounds. I believe I completely ran out. It goes fast. You need short bursts. Rather than holding it down. Which I have learned. I need lots, lots more of that. Since I'm about empty. I will do short bursts. But I need hundreds of rounds to build it up again.
The flamer is overrated IMO. It's just useful for Mirelurks and Radscorpions. But flamer fuel is hard to come by. Also it has horrific fire and reload speed which will get you killed. As well as if you hold your finger down too long it will run out very quickly.
Choose an accurate weapon, and use VATS to incapacitate - hit the leg a lot as hard as possible early on, and THEN maybe break out the missiles on an immobilized enemy.
I use Vats a lot on the Assaultron to take out it's legs. That works great. Also Ghouls to take out there legs too. I use long range rifles with a scope in Vats a lot to try to get a critical hit on a vulnerable area. To at least weaken or disable an enemy more.
The problem is when there are like 6 or 8 enemies. They just overwhelm you. You can deal with 1 or 2 from long range. But not bunches of them that charge you fast.
For my current run I am using a .44 a LOT. a LOOOOT. But I'm also using the Critical Banker (luck based) perk to store up crits, as well as several others for vats-based accuracy and shooting through stuff. (well, aiming through, not necessarily hitting things through blockages).
That's interesting. It makes sense.
Thats actually not that great. Incendiary does a bit of damage over time. However, it doesn't stack. Applying it again (by hitting with another bullet) only restarts the timer. The damage doesn't stack (unlike with the other legendary effects, which do stack their damage). Incendiary is the worst of the legendary effects that add damage.
I mean, it is better than a regular minigun. But not that much better.
Yeah I kind of agree. It was almost worthless against a Raider in power armor that I ran into. I would rather have something that penetrates the armor. Or some other type of damage. I suppose against a non armored opponent it would be pretty good. Or Mirelurks or Rad Scorpions. Because they generally respond to fire. But I haven't tried it on them for sure.
I've been by those. It's a little expensive. But probably worth it. You need ammo. Especially your favorite ammo types.
