How to claim The Slog Settlement?

Can someone explain how to get The Slog settlement?
Many times I have gone there and tried to click the workshop and it says I am not allied with them. I talk to all the NPCs, they don't offer any quests or anything so I have no idea how to claim this place as my own.

First off, you need to talk to the right ghoul there. The leader. I am thinking his name is Wiseman. I could be wrong however.

Yes you are correct Wizeman seems to be the leader but he doesn't say anything that he wants me to do to help claim it. Like is he supposed to give me a quest or something?
I hear if you kill them all you can claim the settlement but that's not my style.

Preston Garvey gives it as a minuteman mission iirc.

Oooh really well how do I get that sucker to give me jobs like that because everytime I go to the settlement I left him in where he does defense, he just tries to get me to tell him I love him.

I've found that murdering all the settlers there so you don't have to do their quest and listen to their demands that you build them stuff and fight their fights works.
Then you can build the settlement on your terms when you get a supply line set up, and put in a settlement beacon when you want it

There are 2 settlements you claim after you do a standalone quest . It's basically up the game AI to decide witch settlements it is on any given play thru .

PG gives you settlement missions in a random sequence. If you already have two settlement missions that haven't been fulfilled yet you need to start knocking those out. He gets to it eventually.

Hmm so I should just try to keep talking to him until her offers this?
Do you think that is still possible?
He is max affinity with me and is currently defense in a settlement.
I took the Institute ending and am currently level 220 so I am not sure if old settlements need my help stuff is still going to trigger.

haven't tried this one yet, though it looks legit. they get to keep their caps & I don't have to deal with that Garvey fella so much. sounds like a good trade to me.
