Some companions even lose their "Essential" status (essential meaning they cannot be killed, only downed) when being dismissed or leaving due to hating the player! This means the player (or another companion following the player) could then potentially kill the dismissed companion!
The Charisma perk "Inspirational" is the only way to upgrade the companions, they don't have levels like the player:
Level 1: Companions do more damage and cannot hurt the player
Level 2: Companions resist more damage and cannot be hurt by the player
Level 3: Carry weight limit of all companions is increased by +25
You can check their special stats here[fallout.fandom.com].
There are some ways of upgrading the companions carry weight limit next to the Inspirational perk:
- (Humanoid companions only) Make them wear armor that is modded with "pocketed" (+30) or "deep pocketed" (+60) add on.
- Issue #3 of "Live & Love" increases all companion carry capacity by =10
Weapons and armor work on them, but you'll need to supply them with ammo if they're using anything other than their standard weapon
It might seem that they level up when the player does, but they don't!
I can give them backpacks and bags also?
Also, their damage does NOT increase outside of giving them better weapons and taking lvl1 of the Inspirational perk!
All wikis (fandom / fallout wiki, etc.) confirm that!
They don't get benefits aside health from levels (no perks, no DR, no DD, no attribute gainetc), that's true, and they don't level up from xp, because they don't have xp mechanics, their level is simply tied to PC.
But they have levels, as a technical stat, it is just not leveling system. You can say that effectively it's "fake" levels, nothing but health points scaling, and this will be true, but nontheless.
Second - I checked and under stats bar there's literally written - "level", just after the s.p.e.c.i.a.l parameters.
And claiming that wiki's are not a bible: they might not be, but hundreds of people proof read them and correct them constantly, so I trust their opinion more then yours!
You should stop acting like a steam forum Karen and go outside to touch some grass...
