Those who want to use mods have that option, which is certainly fine, but do not be making claims which is false. If you stated most do, then I would not have even replied.
Simple, read my post again. I need it to mod a retail version. A non steam version. I still got it on my other rig. But i lost my code. Also got it on dvd, but i don't have a dvd player in my current rig. I have multiple versions of skyrim, steam and non steam, same with F4. Not just that, i just don't want it in my game folder. It looks rather sloppy.
Until last year all Skyrim and Fallout 4 were steam only games. So unless you bought the Microsoft store version in the last year you have pirated copies.
Yes even if bought on a DVD they still required steam
Regarding getting the creation kit on a cd version of Skyrim, that's false. The creation kit was released months after launch, for both skyrim and Fallout 4 and had to be downloaded separately. So if you got a copy with the ck in it, or managed to launch the game without steam, it was a pirated/cracked copy. There's no such thing as a "retail" version that doesn't use steam.
You still need steam for skyrim. If youre having problems with the ck or mods whilst running a cracked copy, well, that might be the root of the problem.
Does that clear it up for you?
