National Guard Barracks - Distress Signal, not the Brotherhood of Steel at the recruitment office.
So to start, I've already ♥♥♥♥♥♥ the Brotherhood of Steel Distress Signal. However, when I was passing by to do another side quest... my eternal hobby/main thing I do instead of actually the main quest, I noticed I got a distress Signal, upon following it, it led me to the National Guard training barracks where ya fight that legendary Ghoul, more specifically the Bathroom that's above the Kitchen with a giant hole in the floor between them.

I've tried finding the source, but at most I can get 98ish percent when I'm at the right side of the room at the left most side of it. (Go into the room turn right and go into the last shower stall on the left.)

I can't seem to figure out what's going on, anyone else got an idea?

That's anomolous. What quest or quests did you have active? I only know of the BOS quest there, and never seen a second distress signal.
(I mean, it's the commonwealth: everyone has a distress signal/radio message and no one is willing to help anyone else. )
Taking Independence and the other quest Preston gave me

I do know that I've actived 2 radio towers sense finishing that area, the one near the satelites that had the BOS guy and the Super Mutants

and another that leads to the Greenbair distress signal

it's part of a bos quest, guess you need to find the signals emettors in the good order, or have i activated first.
Activated first?

But why would the signal be coming in a completely different part of the building? I even went into the room with the dead BOS girl and it wasn't anywhere near her.
Sure it isn't tied to Shelly Tiller?
It's next to the dead BOS girl.

Don't worry about it. There are distress signals at places in the game, I never investigated or at least had no desire to. There is one when you cross the bridge from Sanctuary to Red Rocket. Where is it from? The bunker in Sanctuary? Hell if I know.
It does not matter if you completed the quest or not. The distress beacon item will always send out a radio signal when it is not in a workshop, player's inventory, or NPC inventory.

Dropping the beacon on the ground and scrapping will cause a permanent distress signal at that location.

Except you can't scrap it in the location he is talking about. It is not a settlement (So you can't scrap it manually) and there is no workbench (so it couldn't have been scrapped accidentally).

No there isn't. There is no signal in or anywhere near Sanctuary. Not unless you've moved/scrapped one of the Brotherhood beacons when in/near Sanctuary.

I wouldn't go anywhere near that place if I were you. It's full of charlatans & you may not believe this, but another settlement needs your help. ad infinitum, ad nauseum. worst thing about the game. The undying faction that are better off dead lol

I'm doing it for the completionism and the fact that I already found three of the signals for other bunkers and distress signals.

It's a good thing then that I didn't drop them nor am able to scrap them atm.

I was pointing out scrapping it will cause that issue. The OP could have been overweight and dropped it.

Also with the abundance of console commandos and mods I would not rule out scrapping it.
Mods have been adding options to scrap items anywhere. ACO and Horizon had one last I checked.

Yeah I made that mistake about five years ago, never again, lol.

I normally collect them and then sell them to a vendor.
Nah, not a modded game play currently, trying for all the achievements

Assuming it's the distress signal for the quest, the main concern would be whether or not it remains after the quest is concluded.

It might be that the signal got somehow disassociated from the related object (I'm not sure offhand if it's attached to the object in any permanent way or just gets relocated by the quest's scripting), but it shouldn't be a big issue if it goes away once the quest is done. I suppose you could try dropping the distress beacon object and picking it up to see if it just didn't register the signal being removed (you can always save beforehand if you're concerned that might mess it up).
