Brahmin dropping dead...and stuff
So, I have been buying Brahmin from Kelly

But I have noticed that they sometimes drop dead in my settlement. Does anybody know what the game mechanic is? Do they have a specific lifetime? Is their death related to making way for newly arrived settlers?
One or two might be explained as casualties of an attack, but I have seen this occur in settlements at a point in the game where no attacks happen.

Also, I think I just discovered a glitch whereby a Brahmin is purchased from Kelly near Drumlin Diner, sent to Finch farm....but dies in the road outside Starlight Drive In. (it may have been attacked by the bloodbug there.)

The Brahmin is dead in the road, I didn't see the death...but while my settler population at Finch Farm has increased by one...no Brahmin has arrived.

ideas and opinion welcome.

I build using large squares a 4 by 4 area in safe from bullets area. Has to have gate or door so she wont teleport then use console command "lock 1" so brahmin wont run out during attack.

the only thing you need is their feeders and place them in the right spot(close to farm areas) and a settlement beacon and you get them for free lol

Uhm, chances are you're seeing a random encounter dead brahmin and your actual brahmin is wandering somewhere out of site, just slap a feed trough down and it will stay put.

I was going to start the thread about it but looks like i don't have to.

So i'm having just the same issue: i had 3 brahmins in my main settlement then i found one dead. I figured that i just missed the poor animal got killed during attack and reanimated it with console command. Poor creature didn't fully recover as it was just sitting on the ground and wasn't moving.

Some time later i did a major reconstruction: removed old shacks and replaced them with Vault-Tec structures. The whole thing took quite some time and i was in the settlement the whole time. No attacks, no random wandering monsters, nothing at all.

When i got done with new buildings i walked over to the cornfield to gather crops and on the way there i found that another brahmin is dead and it was alive when i was still rebuilding. Oh, btw, i have 4 feed troughs there.

So i got paranoid and killed everyone in the settlement, except Cait who's currently lives there, and found no evidence of any of them being a saboteur, even the remaining brahmins appeared to be clear.

So here's what i've got: no saboteur settlers, no attacks, no wandering monsters, still one, maybe two brahmins dead. The remaining suspects are Cait and Gene's guard dogs. But then... there were no combat sounds at all....

i actually thought it's chupacabra...

any idea what really kills them?

They were synth brahmin and your Settlers killed them. Well even if not, free Brahmin meat!
WildCat Oct 26, 2016 @ 10:04am
Synth brahmins have synth components just like humanoid synths. In my case neither brahmins nor any of settlers had them.

The brahmin are annoying - I kill them myself.

Is your frame rate capped? Dropping entities is a result of the physics engine messing up after a frame rate threshold and too much excess 'trash data' being built up.

I have seen this many times.

Every time I visit my Abernathy there is one or two that have fallen from the sky. When you load the area you can see them fall.

This is most likely the issue. If you have the falling brahmin issue then most likely you also have the rare occaisions when you send a mob flying.

That was one of the big fog crawler mobs from Far Harbor, before it became a test pilot.

Huh? So that happens to brahmins! I remember it used to a common bug with deathclaws in FO3 and FONV.
