Survival mode sleeping bag makes you even more tired?
It says you can't sleep more than 3 hours at a time in one, so i slept in it 3 times in a row, I got even more tired, Is this intended, because it's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dopey idea if it is.

It also gave me insomnia, is this a hidden game mechanic? Sleeping bags are used for saving but they have a negative effect on tiredness?

Other note, I tried on a dirty matress and could get up to 5 hours which reduced me down to just "tired" rather than "overtired" Plus I got a message that said you can only get a full nights sleep in a real bed.

Original question still counts though, is a sleeping bag actually a minus to your sleeping in all circumstances and a "sacrifice" you must make to save the game? Or is it just my misunderstanding in that a character with insomnia has certain problems using one.

sleeping bags only give 3 hours sleep dirty matresses 5 hours and increase the chance of having a bad sleep or contracting illness! sleeping on a clean bed in doors or in a settlement will most likely give you the well rested perk.
it is part of survival and intented to be that way.

Yes but is 3 hours sleep always an objective negative to your "sleep meter", The way sleeping bags are working for me is that using them is giving me a net loss on sleep amount, that just seems wrong.

Think of sleeping bags as save points rather than beds. If you are very tired head to the nearest settlement
the sleeping bags in the wastland are one of those things that is for a quick nights sleep or a nap (immersion purposes). But think about it, you are on the ground with nothing on your back but the sleeping bag so it's bound to be less sleep.

the only way around it is to use the 'sleep or save' mod so you get the option to save instead of sleeping.
which is slighty cheating i know but it helps

I have mods installed that let me quicksave and use the console as normal anyway, it's not about wanting to save it's get your AP back and such, I liked new vegas hardcore mode just because the extra need for food and water etc is fun, not because your attacks doing 3/4 damage while your enemies have 400% boosts is good, because that's silly well.

But im geussing that is a yes? Sleeping bags are designed to actually make you more tired? I can understand how they will make you uncomfortable and won't get the best sleep, but using them should not make you need to sleep even more, that makes no sense.

"Ohh i'm so tired, but if i sleep on the floor, I will wake up even more tired"

TL;DR - This whole mechanic is like saying "drinking out of a river actually makes you MORE thirsty" how is that normal?

Yeah, and apparently if you choose a male character he is a decorated war veteran.Don't know how he survived 3 days in the field if he can only sleep 3 hours in a sleeping bag.Seriously.

very much so, though I have had a few incidents where three hours at a bag makes me well rested. Usually, I just use them as save points. Make sure to not save for only an hour. Eventually, you get so tired that your vision gets blurry and you can no longer sprint. I found this out the hard way.

there is a mod for camping gear that lets you drop a sleeping bag and use it without getting the minus perks i.e fatigue or illness

The "Survival Options" mod found one the Nexus
( http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/14650/? ) gives you an holotape, that allows you to configure several aspects of the survival difficulty, including "bed options".
Under the bed options tab you can define that sleeping bags and mattresses count as real beds.

Many thanks.
I mostly made this thead to confirm that sleeping bags are indeed actively damaging, i'm kinda suprised no one else seems to care that they are :P

Being better off not sleeping at all because a sleeping bag is a net loss has russled my jimmies.
